Form Data as Barcodes

I think it might be useful to have the option of encoding form data as a Code 128 barcode or a QR code.  This would be most useful for short fields like name, phone number, email, and a unique ID.  This could make data entry from printed submissions super easy and quick, and would be useful for me for order forms I have online and I can imagine that others may find it useful too.  It seems like it should be easy to implement as there are already many online barcode generators.  The barcodes could then be placed in notification emails, on the submissions page for the form on your site, and on the PDFs that are generated for Dropbox syncing.  Would this be a possibility in the future?  I have seen other people requesting this feature and know that it could be useful to many

    Hi,

I have added this thread to our feature request list. However, I cannot guarantee any and for the timeframe about this request.

    Thanks

    Hi,

That's an interesting feature request. We could implement it but my team is not very familiar with QR/Barcodes.

There is something I would like to learn before implementation; if we provide you the QR codes, how are you going to read it ? I'm sure there are tools for reading QR codes ( even with a smartphone ) but after reading, you need to parse the data to see submission details (E-mail:test@jotform.com; Phone:333-5556677; Address:Street #1, Street #2, City, State, ZipCode, Country; .. .. .. etc.)

I'm not sure there are flexible tools to parse these details on your end,

    Thanks,

    Ertugrul.

I'm still working on how I would parse the data.  I would use a 2d barcode scanner to scan the QR code into our invoicing system.  I'm hoping that I could do something as simple as encode tabs between each field, so that the data would be automatically entered into seperate fields, but I haven't been able to try that yet.  If that doesn't work then I would need a QR code or barcode for each field.

For now I've found a way to create a QR code myself in an email alert by calling on Google's chart tools, although that method has been deprecated and will be shut down in 2015.  I'm doing this by inserting an image with the URL http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?chl={id}%09{fullName3}%09{phoneNumber4}%09{email5}%09{couponCode}&chs=150x150&cht=qr&chld=H%7C0 which pulls in all of the relevant fields.  It would be nice though to have a way to put this in the submission PDFs with a tool that makes constructing the URL automatic.

Thank you for provided information, it can be helpful for our Developers.

Would you like to use something like {QR:fullName}, {QR:email}, {QR:ID} tags to generate the QR codes with the form submission data on your Thank You pages / Autoresponders? Submission PDFs will probably need some standalone encoding option.

That would certainly be useful, especially if you were able to combine multiple tags like {QR:ID,fullName, email} to combine tags with a delimter or a tab between them.

Has there been any progress with this thread? I am looking for the same type of widget feature. I really hope this could work!

    Hello,

What is the current state of this implementation? We are interested to use it for our chapter event meetings.

    Thanks,
