    Hi,

I have two forms using asmSelect. Occasionally an applicant wants what is not listed. Is it possible to have "Other" option on this widget.

    One form example: 200016807833954

    Thank You,
     Robert

Hello Robert - Unfortunately, it is not possible to add an "Other" option in the asmSelect widget. Here are two widgets that I would like to recommend as the user can add their choices in case it's not available in the options:

User-Contributed Dropdown - This widget allows your form users to add an option to your drop down field. It is easy to configure, and easy to use - when your form users click on add option a dialog will pop out so that they can type in the new drop-down option.

User-Contributed Checkbox - It allows your form users to add more options to your check box list.

    Here's a demo form: https://form.jotform.com/200535843927055

    Hi,

I'm reluctant to change widgets as I have a number of submission using it now, so, they would then becoming on a new field.

The form is not integrated, yet, so, when it is, I would have to combine the info from the two into one. Not difficult on gsheets. To bad that one fields data can not be copied to the others.

Of the two, I like User-Contributed Dropdown . If I did used it, would my custom code work with it?

    Thank You,
     Robert

    Hi Robert,

To clarify, are you referring to the custom CSS codes? You may have to inject new CSS codes for the new field to customize it according to your preference.

You may try adding the field on your form then let us know if you need further assistance on the CSS codes.

Yes Custom code. I haven't decided on my course of action.

    Thank You,

If you decide to use the User-Contributed Dropdown widget, let us know once you add it to the form and tell us how would you like to customize it.

    Hi,

I cloned my form, https://form.jotform.com/200544904686964 and added the new drop down.

Now I have concerns. When Items are added I see an option to delete it as well. My concern is it may get filled with junk. Is it reset after submitted? If not can a condition do that?

My image asks how are these deleted, it should read are they reset after submit.

Also the original drop down froze in error mode when I trie to submit because nothing was picked. I went back and selected some items and it still would not reset.

This could be a big problem for users.

    Thank You,

The options added by the user can be deleted via the form builder and click the red X button beside each option.

Also the original drop down froze in error mode when I tried to submit because nothing was picked. I went back and selected some items and it still would not reset.

You need to click the SUBMIT button after selecting an option from the said field to clear the error.

    Thank you for clarifying.

Unfortunately, no. The user entries were saved after the form is submitted. So when a new user fills out the form, he'll be able to see them in the options.

So you need to manually delete them.

Also thanks for clarifying... I don't think I will be using this option then.

I think I will stick with what I have, it is going to work out fine. If something is missing I will add it to the list like I did yesterday.

    Thank you,
     Robert
