the test email is going to an email address i don't want it to go to.

If you'd like to change the form recipient email address, please follow this guide: Finding out E-Mail Address Used for Submission Notifications.
Also note that the "Test Email" button will ONLY send emails to the email address that is associated to your Jotform account. In order to see if the notifications are being sent correctly to the new recipient, simply open your form on "live mode", fill out the form and submit a test-entry.
