    Refresh conditional fields?

Asked by gandalf11 on May 25, 2013 at 10:53 AM

    hi there

this is the form i'm using http://form.jotform.me/form/20748443547459

i use collapse to hide/show fields, which works fine! at least, for the first time. if in a dropdown menu i change a value to an entry that has less field than the previous one, the field that should hide again are still there. like a refresh is missing.

how could i solve this problem?

    to test:

    http://www.mrcustomgolf.ch/bestellung/index.html

    Artikelgruppe wählen

Tour/Staff Bag auswählen: choose first entry

then 10 logo positions will appear.

    now change

    Artikelgruppe wählen extras

all 10 logo positions should disappear!

how can i solve this problem?

    thanks

    Hi,

Can you please take a look at this cloned form of yours if this is what you want to achieve?

If yes, please consider creating condition in your form like this:

If you need further assistance, do let us know.

    Thank you!

thanks for your answer. unfortunately, it just solves one problem. in general, when one goes back to select another item, all the fields should clear, because logo positions and also the "anzahl" = pcs, will change. so there are several posibilities here...

    sorry for any inconvenience...

    Hi,

I think the issue is had something to do with Form Collapse field is which set hiden in your form. To fixed the issue, you should delete Form Collapse in your form and re-create the conditions. But if you're having problems creating the conditions in your form, please provide us the list of the conditions so we can do it for you.

    Thank you!

I think i found the "error". when reselecting in the "artikelgruppe auswählen", in the background the other fields (dropdowns etc) are not set to null/hidden, means the value is still set. does that makes sense?

Yes I think it makes sense based on what you said. Have you tried doing as my colleague above suggested? This will help to correct the problem where it is not set to hidden based on the rules you set on your form to show/hide sections or in your case a form collapse. My suggestion would be to clone your form remove the conditions you have and rebuild it adding in your form collapses then last apply start applying your form conditions and rules. You will need to test them each time to ensure accuracy which will work better instead of trying to go back and figure out plus fix any issues.

Otherwise, if you are still having issues, please provide us a list of example rules as my colleague requested so that we can better assist you with correcting this and doublechecking so that you can begin using your form as you need it to be.

thanks for your reply. one more question i have.

when hiding a dropdown will it set to "empty" again? if not, then i don't think the problem can be solved...

if yes, then i will try to rebuild the form.

    @gandalf11

They wont be cleared but they wont appear on email notification since they are hidden by conditions. I would suggest to enable removing empty fields on email notification so you wont get confused. Here's how:

    Hope this helps. Thanks!

Thank you. This is at the other end, which wouldn't have caused a big problem. its n the GUI that the user gets confused. I have to find another way  then.

    thanks again for your support!
