How do I make fields go away when going back up the form?

Asked by Dingram on June 05, 2013 at 11:57 AM

Good afternoon, I have been enjoying Jotform since the first day I have tried it with simple forms where I need accommodation dates and normal information forms. Today I started to try something more complex and got myself into a situation.

    When I do the following,

Select Your Activity = Elephant Interactions

Select Elephant Experience =    Elephant interaction (or any of the elephant Experiences)

And then go back to the top to Select Your Activity and select Kruger National Game Drives the elephant experience HTML is still there, Jotform does not clear it.

I did play around with the rules but got no joy, could you maybe assist in what I am doing wrong.

    Looking forward to your response,

    Kind regards

    Hello Dirk

In order to assist you efficiently, can you please explain in detail what would be the scenario you want to accomplish to, based on the selections?

    Hi Jeanette

My my client decides to select another activity at the select activity field after he selected like the elephant interactions. Then when he selects something else everything that had to do with the elephants should be removed and only the (for instance) kruger park game drives stuff should be there.

Hi Dirk, I've done a test on your form but unfortunately I seem to be unable to reproduce this issue.

Please watch this Video of my Test, I tried it in the latest versions of Chrome and also FireFox but I didn't come across any issues. The form selections based on your conditions seems to work fine with no problems. I can switch between the two groups unless more below the Options isn't supposed to show but that was already there.

Can you please try Clearing your Browser Cache to see if this helps? If not then please let us know and also please tell us which OS and Browser/Browser Version you are experiencing this problem in?

    Hello Dirk!

I think I understand what you're trying to say. With your current Conditions, the Elephant Interactions (1 hr) pic doesn't go away when you select it and then select another Activity, right? I saw that when I tested your form.

To resolve it, you would need to Add another rule in your first condition. Basically it should look like this:

    This is to say,

If "Select your Elephant experience" is equal to "Elephant Interaction (1 Hour)" AND If Select your Activity is equal to "Elephant Interactions" ONLY THEN would that image and text appear.

Hi Guys, thank you for your quick support, I actually found my mistake, Instead of having my rules "is equal to" they should have been "Is not eqauls to" and Hide at the action. Thank you everyone, all your input helped to get me here.

AHH, My happiness was short lived, it seems that when you select an radio button with the elephant experience of choice and the go back to the top and select another activity the elephant experience stays because the radio button was pushed. simply hiding it with a rule does not create the fact the the selected elephant experience now dissapear because the radio button is still clicked.
