I would like to Export Data to Google Spreadsheet but what about image uploads and map logistics?

Asked by Evan on June 08, 2013 at 12:11 PM

hello, i have a few questions.  I understand that you can connect the data filled out in a JotForm to populate a google spreadsheet (each submission has its own row, i assume?)

But what about when i have a file upload take place?  I want to give the ability to add an image, so would the image URL carry into a new row on the google spreadsheet?  Is that image actually hosted on a JotForm url, or is it only available for download?

Im creating a map, and all of the submissions are business locations.  I am building this map through MapBox (www.mapbox.com) and the only reason why i need to use google spreadsheets is because they have a plugin for geocoding addresses into Latitude and Longitude coordinants - but does JotForm have that ability?

Attached is a screenshot of my flowchart - if you can help me make this happen, i would be thrilled!

    Thank you

Hi Evan, We would be more than happy to answer your questions for you.

hello, i have a few questions.  I understand that you can connect the data filled out in a JotForm to populate a google spreadsheet (each submission has its own row, i assume?)

Yes that is correct, each time you receive a submission it will create a new row inside of your google spreadsheet.

But what about when i have a file upload take place?  I want to give the ability to add an image, so would the image URL carry into a new row on the google spreadsheet?  Is that image actually hosted on a JotForm url, or is it only available for download?

You can certainly do this. The files that are uploaded are save inside our Cloud Servers here on your Account in JotForm. A link is then applied to it and this is what is shared inside of your spreadsheet that will allow you to download it.

Im creating a map, and all of the submissions are business locations.  I am building this map through MapBox (www.mapbox.com) and the only reason why i need to use google spreadsheets is because they have a plugin for geocoding addresses into Latitude and Longitude coordinants - but does JotForm have that ability?

We support an ability to add a map and geolocation of an address which can be applied into a form. You can do this by following these instructions:

    (1) Go to www.google.com/maps

    (2) Type in the location and search it or leave it blank if you dont want to specify a location

    (3) Next click on the Embed Link and grab the Html Code to Embed

    (4) Now go into your Formbuilder of the form you want to add the map to

    (5) Add a FreeText (Html) Field to it

    (6) Go into the Html Editor and Paste the Map's Embed Code

However,  there is not a way to display the longtitude and latitude for the map because of the way googlemaps is programmed. Though if you can find a map service that supports embedding which displays this you might be able to use that instead if it is embeddable in the form with a script.

Thank you for the answers, however, i think there is some misunderstanding.
I don't ever want to actually download the image - i just need the image URL in a column of the spreadsheet so that the mapping program i am using (www.mapbox.com) will be able to display the image within that business' listing.
Regarding the map, MapBox will generate the map automatically based on the info submitted through the form. It can do this because there is a plugin for google spreadsheets that will automatically geocode the submitted addresses. So the user fills out the JotForm form which is posted to a google spreadsheet - where then the address is geocoded - then MapBox (also being connected to this spreadsheet) will generate a map from the entries - for which it would also find an image in the image URL field, and therefore be able to display that as well.
sigh, a mouthful, to say the least.
    Will this work?
    Thank you

Wow, superb idea. thats great. But Dont know whether the mapbox will have the ability to map google spreadsheet values to their maps. I dont find any direct way to this in mapbox. There may be some work arround using some API's.

From our side we ensure that you will be synced with all the submission data that are submitted via your jotform form including the image url, to your google spreadsheet via integration.

BTW I just wish to say this to you. There is a simple  Google spreadsheet to Maps Wizard. But I Think there is no image option there.

    Hope this helps you.

Feel free to ask for further clarification.

    Thank you.
