    Conditions Question

    Asked by bobsommers on April 21, 2011 at 05:04 PM

    To start ... I love your form software. Here's my question.

    I am asking my customers to fill out a form. In that form I'm asking them to write a 2 sentence review of my service. I would like to immediately send them an email (or redirect them to a thank you page) that includes their answer to just that question (either in the email or on the thank you page) so that they can copy and paste it to another site. Is that possible?

    Thank You.

    Aloha, Bob Sommers

    Hi,

    The easiest way to achieve this is to create an autoresponder email and then modify that email template to include only that particular answer.

    To create an autoresponder:

    1.  Go to Setup & Embed tab, click Email Alerts button

    2.  Click Add New Email then choose Autoresponder. Click Next

    3.  Fill in Sender & Recipient Details, click Next

    4.  Modify your email in the Compose Email window. Remove everything that you don't want to appear in the email, leaving only the {identifier} for your particular "Review" text area.

    Take a look at this Example Review Form for a demo of how this works.

    Hope you find this information useful. Let us know if you have further questions.

    Hello Bob,

    Thank you for your kind comment.

    To answer your inquiry, yes it is possible to send an email to the user as soon as he submits the form.  To do this, you will need to:

    1. Click on "Setup and Embed" tab on the form builder toolbar
    2. Click on "Email Alerts"

    3. Click on "Add New Email" button
    4. Select "Autoresponder" option and complete the wizard.

    This is a quite long explanation so I will post another one later for the showing of the results on the Thank you page.

    Now the other way to use the thank you page to show up the answer is create your own Thank you page with a PHP code in it:

    In this example, lets call the thank you page as thankyou.php.  Assuming that you have created a thankyou.php file even if it does not have content in it.

    To point your custom thank you page URL, you will need to:

    1. Go back to the Setup & Embed tab
    2. Click Thank You icon on the tool bar above your form

    3.  Select Custom URL

    4. Enter the URL of your thank you page

    Now it's done.  All posts submitted using your form will now redirect to your Thank you page.

    Editing your thankyou.php file

    Open your thankyou.php file and enter something like this:

           <pre><? print_r($_POST); ?></pre>

    When you do a submission, you will see something like this:

    Array
    (
    [submission_id] => 151406822941064247
    [formID] => 2663942288
    [answertext] => 'Some answer here'
    )

    Note: the content varies depending on your own fields in your form.

    Now get the the ID in the array that you want to show up. In our example, you will have to get [answertext].

    You will then have to open your thankyou.php file again and replace

            <pre><? print_r($_POST); ?></pre>

    with something like:

    Thank you for your post. You have submitted: <?php echo $_POST[answertext]; ?>

    Now save the file and all submissions will point to your custom URL thank you page with their answers.
