    Thank you message and thank you email fields render differently

    Asked by Don on June 13, 2013 at 03:26 PM

    Hi,

    I built two forms trying to implement the guide here: http://www.jotform.com/help/97-How-to-Save-Forms-to-Continue-Later

    I added three fields to the email so that the session becomes {fullname3}{uid}{email} where uid is a unique number for each submission. When I click the link from the email, the session becomes rendered as "FirstnameLastname#sample@email.com" with no space between first and last name.

    I added a link to a custom thank you message, thinking it would be nice for users to continue to the second form without waiting for an email. It seems to be OK except that the fields are rendered differently - {fullname3} becomes Firstname%20Lastname. This means that someone who clicks the link in the thankyou message, then saves their progress, can't access that session via the email, because they are different!

    Is there a way to have the thankyou message and the autoresponder email match?

    Hi,

    Is there a way to have the thankyou message and the autoresponder email match?

    You can do this by just copying the message template of the email into the thank you message.

    Use the HTML source tool.

    Hope this help. Please inform us if you need further assistance.

    Thanks.

    Hi Jonathan,

    I don't think you understand my problem. I have the same exact source in the thankyou message and the email, but the results are different.

    1. In the field "Full Name" I input "Sample Name"

    2. I submit the form

    3. The thankyou page has a link, with part of the URL being "Sample%20Name"

    4. I get an autoresponse email with a link, with part of the URL being "SampleName"

    5. because these URLs don't match, the sessions created are different, and I cannot continue progress on the form

    Hi Don,

    Thank you for the clarifcation on this. My apology for not understanding it thoroughly the first time.

    Please try it like this to resolve the wrong encoded URL.

    http://form.jotform.co/form/31635203366853?session={fullName3:first}{fullName3:last}{uid}{emailAddress}

    Here is a test I did http://form.jotform.co/form/31635203366853?session=JonathanJotform1jonathan@mailcatch.com

    Basically, what I did here is, I have properly strip the compound Full Name field using its tags first and last

    {fullName3:first}

    {fullName3:last}

    Hope this help. Continue updating us if this does not work for you.

    Best Regards,
