Square Subscription: Authorization Only still charges the customer right away

    Also, there’s no way to manage the payments through square.  The only way a subscription can be canceled is through JotForm.  Also it’s not supposed to charge right away and it definitely did, despite the settings being charge later.

    I assume this is the form you are referring to since this is the only one set to sell subscriptions, https://form.jotform.com/201176435281148.

    Technically, Square does not support subscriptions thru API (thru other softwares), as such, JotForm made a way to be able to still offer subscriptions with Square. However, with the restrictions, certain regular Square subscription features could not be catered.

    In order for the Square subscription to work, JotForm needs to make an initial actual payment to Square so that Square can return some sort of card ID. Once JotForm gets this ID, JotForm is then the one scheduling the succeeding payments against that card ID.

    This is the reason you can only cancel in JotForm and the reason that a charge has been made.

    Nevertheless, I have forwarded this to our backend team to ask on why Authorization Only option is still available with Square subscriptions.
