Receiving images (upload URLs) from Webhooks

Asked by WebSummit on June 20, 2013 at 06:48 AM

Currently when I set up a form and add a webhook, I ony receive text based fields when submits a new entry. It would really help to also receive a url of an image or attachment that was sent through with the form. Is this functionality available? Or planned for the future?

For some reason, I was unable to load your page in any of my browsers. However, assuming you're referring to this form, please see Serkan's posts here. Would that information be of any help?

We stand ready to assist you.

The form is on that page but has been custom styled.

Unfortunately that answer is of no use - the question is in regards to webhooks - might someone else on the team be able to advise?

    Thanks

I'm theorizing off of what you first mentioned to try to grasp a bit better what you are in need of for this question. To my understanding it seems to me like you are seeking a feature to allow an image to be uploaded and also the webhook would then automatically display the url if any that is associated with the image then? Or possibly just the image url to be displayed since it's a textbox that you speak of? I am still slightly a bit puzzled though so I may be misinterpreting your dilemma.

You could just create a textbox requesting the image url which should work instead.

Yep that's what we're looking for. We'd much prefer to allow the user to upload their image than to provide a link. Another way would be if the webhook also sent through submission_id - we could then query the API for that submission and we'd get back the image url.

Would I be right in guessing that the webhooks feature is unfinished? The docs don't mention a delete webhook call, and it's also lacking in the information it sends on. Will it be possible in future?

Thank you for your suggestion, I am forwarding a ticket to our Developers to see if this is possible to send the information about uploads with webhooks.

This is a good idea, and according to my test, we do send the submissionID wtih webhooks upon form submissions.

So these submissionIDs can be used to get the information about uploads ('http://api.jotform.com/docs/#form-id-files') and generate links to the files, or directly get the submission data ('http://api.jotform.com/docs/#submission-id') with upload URLs in body.

Would I be right in guessing that the webhooks feature is unfinished? The docs don't mention a delete webhook call, and it's also lacking in the information it sends on. Will it be possible in future?

You are right, this is not yet finished. There will be a Webhooks Wizard under the form builder from where you will be able to manage the webhooks. It will be added in the nearest time.
