Voice Recorder Widget - Numerous errors when filling out the survey. What could be the reason?

    Our survey includes the voice recorder widged multiple times. Various errors have occured when filling out the survey. For IPhones the survey sometimes jupms back to the starting page once you click "record". For Android an error message pops up at the end of the survey and the data is not stored. Occasionally it is not possible to re-play the recording.

    Could you provide us the form URL to check the issue? If you have embedded the form on any web page, please also provide us the web page URL.

    Is it possible that the survey is too long and the problem is related to the RAM of the participant's phone?

    I did check your form and found that you have added 234 questions in form. You seem to have also enabled "Allow Browser AutoComplete" setting in form. Please check the screenshot below:

    Since you have 234 question and this setting will save the input data of all question every few seconds in browser cookies. This will definitely cause performance issue in form. I would suggest you to please select "No" in "Allow Browser AutoComplete" setting of form and see if that solves your problem.

    Thank you for your support. We have changed the settings as recommended. Unfortunately, the problem has not disapeared.

    Can you please provide the exact error that Android users receive? Please also confirm if this is happening only on some Android devices.

    The form is relatively slow due to the number of widgets on it. Each widget takes additional time and resources to load. If you would like to improve the performance of your form, you may consider replacing the Numeric Slider widgets with some regular fields from the Basic tab.

    Also, in many cases, the Voice Recorder widget can be replaced with the native File Upload element.

    For example, when I click on the file upload field using my Android phone, I can use a Voice Recorder to record and attach an audio file.

    159168702020C08757-8C51-4B85-AB73-63C895Yes, it only happens sometimes on Android devices. But there seems to be no pattern. We tried different Android models. 
     

    On the screenshot you can see the error message Android users receive.

    Based on the screenshot you have shared, it seems the "Voice Recorder" widget is not being displayed which is a required field in your form. 

    With which browser you are having this issue with? Please let us know and we will take a look.

    Hey, I'm Oktay, a colleague of Theresa.

    Before trying out other widgets, I'd like to further explain our problems:

    - The error message "Es existieren Fehler auf dieser Seite. Bitte beseitigen Sie sie bevor Sie fortfahren" (There are errors on this page. Please remove them before you continue) seems to be a "general page error"

    - The error messages on the different Android devices happen at random stages of our survey: at one point, the record button simply does not appear and if you try to go on the next page, the above mentioned error message appears. Usually this happens in the later course of the tests. We've had several runs with an Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S9 and different browser applications (internet and chrome)

    - All the Android runs which did not work out were held by me at home. Other runs of two people who used Galaxy S5 and S8 just worked out fine. Could the problem be caused by the network?

    Small update:

    I held another test run, this time slowly and at mobile data, using my Galaxy S9. For the first time everything worked out just fine! Could there be an interaction between the length of the survey and the network?

    Could the problem be caused by the network?

    I am not sure but you seem to have several voice recorder widgets and if there is any network issue, same should reflect in all the voice recorder widget.

    I have cleared your form cache form here. I would suggest you to please test your form again with mobile network / data and see if the form works as expected.

    Hey, Oktay here!

    Unfortunately the same error still persists, even though:

    - You Cleared our cache

    - We changed the widget "numeric-slider" to the basic element "single-choice"

    - We tried to change the voice record funktion to "file upload" but that did not work at all

    Any other ideas?

    I am sorry for the trouble caused to you. Have you tried to change the numeric slider and change the voice recorder widget to file upload field?

    I did check your form's revision history but the only change I see is the text content changed in the "Paragraph" field.
