is there a setting i can modify to accept .mov files?

Yes, you certainly can configure your File Upload Field settings to accept .mov files.

To access the settings of the field you will click on the Gear Icon, you will then need to navigate to the Options tab, there you will see a textbox titled File Types. You can add or remove as many filed types as you need there.
