I cannot save form edits

I'm trying to make edits to previously created Emails and Autoresponders. However, when I edit the emails, they revert back to their original formatting and text when used on the webpage. The form I'm having difficulty with is my Create An Account form. (The text and format of the "Sellers" email is what I'm trying to create for all 6 emails, with the insertion of each group name in place of the word "Sellers".

Unfortunately, when I  run a live trial and submit the form, checking all six group types, the Sender for each of the 6 emails I received was mixed between my custom SMTP address (info@midwestfixandflip.com) and the default "noreply@jotform.com" address.

The body text of the emails is not what I changed it to either. Five of the emails are reverting back to their original text; all except Sellers which appears to Save correctly. I'm sure I Saved and Published the form every time I made an edit. But even when everything appears to be saved, when I go away and come back, the forms have reverted to their original state.

Any idea why this is happening, or what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi there,

    Thank you for reaching out.

To isolate the issue, kindly please make sure to use the iFrame code of your form to embed it on  your website as it is the most optimized method when it comes to using the form on your site.

Please click the following link to guide you on embedding iFrame to your website: https://www.jotform.com/help/148-Getting-the-Form-iFrame-Code

    I
hope that helps, please let us know should you need further assistance.

    Bert -

We were already using JotForm's iFrame code for this form. However, the problem may have been resolved by you clearing the form's cache on another question we posted today. And, the edits seem to be holding thus far. (We're keeping our fingers crossed.)

Unfortunately, we're still unable to pull the data for the first form field in the Emails. We must be using and wrong CSS code. All though, the default "groupsYou:" was not working. We tried modifying it, unsuccessfully, and even tried using the "input_47_0" etc. selector, all with no results. (I also added the Bold formatting.) We'd like to have the "Group(s) You Applied For:" field filled with the appropriate group name from the checkboxes they make on the form. Any help with the proper syntax for this field would be appreciated!

    Hi,

I was able to replicate the issue on my end but it appears re-creating the Multiple choice field in question will fix the problem so kindly please give it a try, I did it on a copy of your form and it now does show the Group field value that you need as you can see in the following screen shot.

By the way, before you delete the current "Groups you wish to Join" field that you have, please make sure to download all submissions of this field if there are already so that you won't loose them.

I hope that helps, please let me know should you need further assistance.

You do not need to enclose the options to its original name. Just type the text directly next to the label of the field. Here's an example:

Note that I did all these changes in the form.

As for the custom sender email, it's not added by the SMTP method but through the Verification Method. To keep it unique all the time, we recommend the actual SMTP method.

    SMTP guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/244-How-to-Setup-SMTP-for-a-Form

    I hope that helps.

    So Bert -

I don't have any actual submissions yet. So, we're good on that end. But, thanks for the warning! Good looking out! So are you saying to re-create the email form in its entirety, that one field of the email's table, or the field on the form?

    And Welvin -

I appreciate that you were able to get the form to work by typing in the fieldname without curly brackets. However, did you try it multiple times like that? I had originally tried that method, just like you did, several times. And, I was only able to get it to work once each time before having to reprogram it again It kept going back to "{groupsYou}". So, I assumed that maybe that was the proper default syntax!?!

Also, thanks for the tip on how to setup SMTP for my forms. I actually had the address already listed in the drop-down. But, maybe I didn't do it correctly because some OGMs worked correctly, and others didn't!?! I'll delete the old address, and re-create a new one.

One other thing..... the email verification messages to the user, and the alert notification emails that come back to me when a user submits a form are all sent by "noreply@jotform.com". Don't all OGMs use the SMTP sender, or just some messages? And if only some, which ones?

I checked your form autoresponders and the changes made by my colleague are still saved. Can you please test the form multiple times to see if it's now working as expected or not?

The email verification messages to the user, and the alert notification emails that come back to me when a user submits a form are all sent by "noreply@jotform.com".

Emails from the verified sender are still being sent using the Jotform sender email. That's why if you want to have a custom sender, you need to add SMTP to your account, not verified email.

Also, your notification uses our default sender email (noreply@jotform.com), please change the sender email to the SMTP one.

Once you're done making changes to the email template, don't forget to click the "Save" button to save the changes you've made.

    JHerwin -

Yeah, I had selected our custom info@midwestfixandflip.com address as the Sender for all our messages after your colleague pointed that out. The custom address shown in the Email Sender drop-down list may have been a Verified address!?! Even though its the same as the SMTP address, there was no option to Edit it. So, I deleted it and re-created an SMTP address using the Help Guide provided previously.

However, my email configurations apparently defaulted back to the original "noreply@jotform.com" when I deleted the first (verified?!?) custom address. (I was under the impression that once you set it up, it becomes the default for all OGMs. It seems you have to configure them separately for each message!?! I've now reset them all to the new SMTP Sender.)

Thanks for your response! I'll follow-up after I run some tests to see if everything holds and works correctly......

Yes, the previous one is added through verification. There is no option you can edit it, so deleting is recommended.

No, the default is always noreply@jotform.com. Since you have deleted the verified one, it defaults back to this address, so it is required to select the SMTP again. I've verified your settings to have the new sender email. If you have the correct password, I believe it will work this. I also have business emails connected to Zoho, it worked perfectly fine.

Thank you, and please keep us posted.

    Welvin -

I tested the new setup, and it seems to work as expected. Messages are going to my Zoho Inbox. The only thing still running through JotForm (that I didn't intentionally configure) is the Email Verification widget that sends out notices from "noreply@jotform.com". Is there a way to make that SMTP as well? Is there a global setting to make all emails and notices come from my SMTP server?

    Hi @rwaldenjr,

Glad to know that your Zoho integration is all set, unfortunately, Email Verifications are only sent from "noreply@jotform.com" so changing it to SMTP is not possible.

Please let me know if you need further clarifications.

Well, I'm actually using another option, but its still from the JotForm servers. its your "noreply@formresponse.com". Thought maybe there was a way to add a custom response as well. Okay, thanks anyway for you and all your support team colleague's help on this!

    Stay safe,
          :-)
