    Help with my conditions.

Asked by MSPG on July 11, 2013 at 05:23 PM

    Help!

I can't seem to get this logic to work.  I had help before on the students conditions, and was copying to create others conditions and am getting stuck.

I need to have the options hidden until selected.  When I try to create this condition for Assoc & Non Profit I displays all my options.  Grr..   How did Jotform support create the conditions for my students???

    The End result is.

I need my conditions to read different tables for employees because we have different ranges for selection depending on Industry.

    In example.

We have several industries, Hospitals, Schools, Business, and each have a different range for selection of people, as well as different price ranges.

I was informed that my conditions would be pretty lengthly because of this.

I have created the following for my tables:

    Assoc & Non Profit   # of Empl (these ranges are <50, 51 -250 Emp, 251- 500 Emp, 501 - 999 Emp, 1,000 +

    Governance  # of Employees <50 Emp, 51-500Emp, 501- 999Emp, 1,000 +

    Small Biz # of EMP <50 Emp, 51-100 Emp, 101 - 249 Emp, and 250-999 Emp

As you see they are all employee tables, but have different ranges.  I created different tables to identfiy all my components.

    I NEED...

When a client selects THEIR industry, the next select that POPS up (not automatically displayed) is # of .... (depending on their industry. could be emp, could be beds, could be # of students...

    Depending on what they selected,

then a specified table of prices for their industry would be offered based on Ad Size.  Once they selected their ad size price would be displayed.

The condition that was created for the schools is EXACTLY what I need it to do, but can't seem to figure out how to duplicate it for the rest of my components ONCE a client selects THEIR industry.

    Hi,

Basically, you just need to repeat the process for what are the logic present for the "Students". I would suggest putting up a legend/marker for each field so you'll see which fields are for the "industry" 1 or 2.

    Example:

    Beds Full Page

    Beds 1/2 Page

    Beds 1/4 Page

    ..and so on.

We'll try to help you about this. We'll get back to you later today.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I would like to suggest that you use the method described on this guide

    How-to-Hide-or-Show-Multiple-Fields-at-Once-Based-On-a-Single-Conditional-Entry

On my initial assesment, following the technique on the guide will simplify the condition you need to do on the form.

We will be more than glad to assist you on this. Give me about an hour and I will post an updated version of your form this thread.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Can you please try my version http://www.jotformpro.com/form/31997304509966 of your form.

You can test only for Education 'Industry' for now.

Instead of the multiple-complex conditions you had on your form, I made it all condensed into an option selection instead using the Radio button.
It can be further simplified using only a singe radio option button and put all the selection values on it. (just include the full page, 1/2, student number in the descriptions)

I did tried your method, and the way it was going, it may take a lot of rules and actions to show each options base on the conditions needed. If we go via that route, it will be very difficult to manage the form and there will be a lot trial and error we will have to take.

Please update us with your feedback and suggestion.

    Thanks.

    This option may work if....

Once the individual selects the industry these types of options are displayed.

We just have to many variable options and without confusing the customer I just need to display what the options are based on Industry selected.

Can we do the same scenario, with the current feedback?

Im in the office today hoping to get this completed.

    Let me know.

    thanks.

I am sorry, I am bit lost with your latest response. I was not able to fully understand it.

Once the individual selects the industry these types of options are displayed.

If you check my test form http://www.jotformpro.com/form/31997304509966 using Education industry, I am trying to show you how we can lay out ALL options at once for the user to just select exactly what is needed.

Can we do the same scenario, with the current feedback?

I am not sure if you meant that.. I create the same options on the other industry, same as the one in Education?

Will await for your updated response.

    Thanks.

Can the radio dial be hidden???

With the example you provided there are WAY to many numbers for a client.  I needs to be simplified.

What would I need to do to do the following...

Keep Industry visable as is once the Industry is selected,

Display # of Stu/Emp or Beds depending on selection. once that is selected

    After that THEN DISPLAY

Prices and Ad size based on the number of students/employees/beds they have selected.

Yes. The radio option button can also be hidden using the show/hide condition logic.

What would I need to do to do the following...

Keep Industry visable as is once the Industry is selected,

Display # of Stu/Emp or Beds depending on selection. once that is selected

    After that THEN DISPLAY

Prices and Ad size based on the number of students/employees/beds they have selected.

I understand what you wanted to achieved. I see it in your form http://www.jotform.com/31756266993165 using Education industry.

But what I am trying to avoid is the frustration that may follow because of not being able achieve this using the method you currently used.
If you noticed, for Education alone, you had to create several duplicated text fields(making your form longer when designing), and create a lot of looping rules in the conditions to do show/hide action. Not to mention you will have to do seveal trial and error to test if working as intended.

I had modified my test form http://www.jotformpro.com/form/31997304509966

Please test again and give us your feedback.

    Thanks.

    THIS WILL WORK!!!!

Will I be able to copy this for the other components I have and use the same logic?

I have as you see.... alot of industries to select from.  A total of 8.

I would need the same type of display for the others that I have.

Should I just give them to you?

We also did just purchase jotform, and am using another form that we do LOVE.  If we can get this to work too, that would be awesome.

You can clone my test form http://www.jotformpro.com/form/31997304509966

Use this guide to clone How-to-clone-an-existing-form-from-a-URL

    --

I did started some of the layout on the form already (you will see it after you cloned). You can try supplant further what are needed.

For example, in Association and Non Profit, you need to change the options value to 'Employees' instead of 'Students'

You can use the Manage Fields to easily duplicate necessary fields and create a bunch instantly.

    --

If you can mention here all the available options you need, we will also try to create the form.
I am just saying also, it is much better if you can also continue it on your end since it will greatly benefit you when managing your forms.

    Thanks.

Is it possible that you could help me with this?  I've attached a table to help understand the tables.  I can manage from there.

I still need to create the thank you letter, and TEST that to see how this is all going to come together.
