We would like to have a comments field for participant to add their comments on some survey questions. Instead of adding Text Area right beside the question. But it makes more sense to have the comments together with the questions. How can I add a comments field together with the questions? Thank you.

Use Text Area and shrink it so you can align it on the same line of your question field. It's like positioning them side by side. Field Positioning. I think this is the best solution for this.
Just shrink your question field and the text area field like this:
