Filepicker Integration Bug - Filepicker Fields Get Confused With Each Other

Asked by markashton on July 12, 2013 at 09:36 AM

    Hi,

The new filepicker integration cannot support two filepicker fields on the same form (at least with the same filepicker bucket)

If you try an upload with one of the fields ... it strangley gets transferred to the other field and on submission is displayed and recognised as being in the second field i.e. reports, submission bin, etc.

Hi Mark, yeah I can see what you mean. I noticed this before and also in the Table where they were displaying in the wrong catagory in your other two threads as well. I checked this on your form above and also made a test form (http://form.jotform.co/form/31923967221860) where it happened again.

    @KadeJM

I even tried it with two filepicker fields that were using different filepicker accounts ... let alone buckets ... and the same problem exists.

Need seriously fixing ... unworkable really.

Hi Kade ... could you remove the link to that form because it contains my filepicker and amazon S3 account ... anyone could do their thing with it and start depositing submissions

Tell Kenneth I'll test in real-time with him

    @KadeJM

Your picture ... states .. "I think this is because filepicker is designed as an all-in-one loader" ...

If that is the case ... how come it was working all funky with the old API i.e. you could have two filepicker functions working independently of each other

    Thanks Mark

Actually no, I doubled checked it and it got Kade's email address on it.

On regards to the independent funcitonality of the 2 buttons, let me ask the developer, Kenneth about this

Hi, sorry again for the trouble and thanks for reporting it immediately. I have made changes on the picker.  It allows now to upload and handle each filepicker files without appending wrong files to another picker field.

Please confirm if it works from your end, let us know if you find more something unusual.

    Thanks,

    Ken,

I've checked, tested ... totally fixed.... genius ;-)

    Here's report ... : http://demomr.myresearch.info/table/31884686333060

The files are now in correct columns ;-) Great.

So, I think the file size is a great addition - so leave that.

The image.jpg needs to open in a new window i.e. _blank rather than _self

The S3 image reference needs to go ... doesn't work ... duplicating ... confusing.

BUT, I'll give you my house if you can get the magnifying glass that provides a thumbnail. You see just providing clients with photo.jpg just doesn't cut it.

    Thanks

    Come back I'll test immediately.

    Youre a star Ken

Okay that's great, glad to know its working and so what is your address? I'm serious lol

Anyway, magnifying glass? you mean something like a tool tip than whenever a mouseover to the link a mini image(thumbnail will appear?) - uhm well smartphone doesnt have the hover :) so maybe create another thread for that because this issue was already been fixed.

About the s3 protected or permission I think it depends how you set up the bucket.

    Ken,

Still a big issue here I'm afraid ...

    Check the demo below ....

I have two filepicker fields on the form ... one for photos and one for videos.

The two filepicker fields are set to use different buckets - so I can collect photos in one and videos in another... this allows a different filepicker upload interface to be configured.

The jotform integration does not heed the instruction in the Properties > Advanced Settings > Amazon S3 Bucket Name.

The buckets just default to the first one ... i.e. a filepicker field completely disregards the setting in properties ... not good.

Link here ... please don't submit on my buckets please ... click this ... - http://form.jotform.co/form/31894288736874

    Hey,

    This is class ... http://form.jotformpro.com/form/31974116113953

This accesses a totally different bucket to the one set ??

The funny thing is ... the other one hasn't even been mentioned anywhere.

The bucket thing is totally broken

As usual ... I'm ready to test this ... at a moments notice

Hi mark, when I look to your form, s3 buckets are not set. Are you talking about the s3 buckets or the filepicker buckets?

I'm confused so I just want to clarify things first before we do some changes.

Also when I set two different s3 buckets on two different pickers, files are uploaded correctly and it was the same with filepicker buckets(different APIkeys/emails)

    Thanks,
    Kenneth

    Hi Ken,

The form is a test form: http://form.jotform.co/form/31894288736874

The first filepicker field settings, note bucket set to jotform-photos:
    http://screencast.com/t/8FbUqxYdPJ

The first filepicker field settings, note bucket set to jotform-videos:
    http://screencast.com/t/RZ4Ea5PP6j

So, they are both set to entirely different S3 buckets ... what are you seeing then? Is it the clone thing not passing it through.

Come back with anything Ken ... I shall test.

    Thanks Mark

Hi mark, we just investigate the problem and we found out that the bucketname is dependent to the filepicker apikey.

So if you have two different s3 buckets assigned to one singe filepicker apikey they will use the same s3bucket that was configured(from s3 settings page).

To make things work, you have to create two different filepicker(buckets) to generate apikey for each and then configure them with s3 credentials on each of them.

Sorry if we mislead you on using the s3 feature of filepicker for jotform.

We will fix this soon(or maybe remove the bucketname option under advantage settings to avoid confusions)

    Thanks mark for reporting this,
    Kenneth

    Ken,

I have two applications running in Inkfilepicker
I was using the same API key in jotform ... you were correct
I have changed this so that jotform is using two different API keys corresponding to two different buckets ....

    In filepicker I have two applications: jotform-photo & jotform-video

    So, in the form: http://form.jotform.co/form/31894288736874

The first filepicker field is configured for the filepicker application jotform-photos ...
    1) the API key is correct in both filepicker and jotform and it is pointing to the S3 bucket jotform-photos in both

The second filepicker field is configured for the filepicker application jotform-videos ...
    1) the API key is correct in both filepicker and jotform (different to the first as you advised) and it is pointing to the S3 bucket jotform-videos in both

Unfortunately ... the problem still exists. Don't remove the bucket option just yet ... I need it

Please come back ... shall test more.

    Thanks mark

    Ken,

To be clear ... I would have betted my house that that would have worked ...

But, it seems the API key is actually being ignored in one of the cases and overided by the other fields API key

    Thanks Mark

    Ken,

Two seperate forms here ... both using totally different filepicker applications, API Keys and S3 bucket configurations.

    This works correctly....

    Filepicker Photo: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/31974116113953

    Filepicker Video: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/31982894806974

So, one could conclude that the problem is actually a jotform bug when more than one filepicker app is in the smae form.

It is neccessary to have seperate filepicker fields in the same form. If you need an explanation I will give it ... there are many reasons ... but for now ...

Can you fix it ?? You genius ;-)

Yes you are correct, having multiple filepickers on the same form will not work at the moment.
However I made some changes to the filepicker-jotform integration, I need to confirm if this works from your end.

Please reconfigure your form and then re-save if necessary to catch the latest changes.
If it doesn't work, I advise to clear your browser cache.

    Thanks,

    Ken,

To be safe I cloned the form ... it now works as it should. Well done. Excellent stuff.

Ken, as you are on this thread/filepicker thing I noticed that since the API was updated the very useful file extension of the filepicker image has been replaced by a image.jpg link for every submission.

I made a seperate thread here but wanted to flag it with you as it was a direct result of the new API introduction: http://www.jotform.com/answers/243899-HTML-Grid-Reports-Link-To-Be-Filepicker-Extension-Not-Just-Image-jpg

Thanks. Hopeyou can revert it back.

    Ken,

    One thing .....

The field for filepicker delivers an html string that displays an image link.

I need just the url address ... is there fireld reference I can use to reference jus the image url ...

I ask you becuase you are currently on the integration - and you'll know the answer.

    If the field was {photo} ... is the something like {photo_link}

    Get where I'm coming from

    Ken,

Unfortunately it doesn't work like a charm and i'm starting to go bankrupt. I feel like I work for Jotform without any cash or return-on-investment.

The integration has caused a fatal f**k up with my google spreadsheet integration ...

    See this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AogxdfOvltKQdGRNU2lUMTZKczJoekFXdTNBWU5JOHc#gid=0

Note See Photo column happily delivering a direct link to the photo .... before the integration ... afterwards it is delivering useless html ... from row 18ish down.

I beieve its related to the above point I make regarding the Filepicker extension. see this thread where I'll add more about it. http://www.jotform.com/answers/243899-HTML-Grid-Reports-Link-To-Be-Filepicker-Extension-Not-Just-Image-jpg

Can this be fixed ... I'd rather have the old API working ... there was nothing really wrong with it.

Now I've done tonnes of work for Jotform and absolutely no solution for what I'm after.

    Regards mark
