HTML & Grid Reports - Remove Duplicated S3 Image Reference From Filepicker Image Field

Asked by markashton on July 15, 2013 at 05:33 AM

    Hi,

I have created a seperate thread for this issue from the following thread: http://www.jotform.com/answers/242401-Bug-Filepicker-S3-Output-Integration-has-Created-HTML-Report-Problem

    So ....

    Please check this report: http://www.jotform.com/table/31884686333060

Do you see the filepicker fields which are called Photo & Video.

Can you see the image is referenced twice? Also note the S3 image does not work .. comes up with confusing XML goof.

The report just needs to show the link ... not two of them ... this needs to be fixed ... it is unworkable i.e. it is not market-ready.

    Thanks Mark

Hi mark, with the s3 image link not working and getting this XML stuff.
You need to check your s3 bucket. This error happens when attempting to upload to a bucket other than us-standard- or something to do with regions. Please check here.

For the time being, we decided to remove any s3-links that is related to filepicker-s3 upload under HTML reports.

We will try our best to keep you posted about this.

    Thanks
    Kenneth

    Ken,

    1) I have my S3 bucket pointing to Ireland for upload. Are you advising me to change my buckets to US upload yeah?

    2) Does this mean the S3 link will disappear but NOT the filepicker image? I hope so ...

Could you clarify these two points my old amigo

    1. Yes please try to set to US upload and then check if the s3 links are working and not getting those XML stuff anymore.
    2. Since s3 link will no longer be existed on the html report view, 1 is not possible anymore unless you know whats the exact URL that pinpoint to the file.
And yes filepicker links stays on html report. If you upload it to s3, you can still access file from your bucket. But the s3 link will not be included into the report anymore.

    Hope that clears you up.

I now have removed any s3 links from the table HTML report.
Note that the changes will only work to the newly submissions from your form.
Recreating table report will not fix the problem.

Let us know if this works from your end.

    Thanks,
    Kenneth

    Ken,

Just tested with new submission and recreated html table ... so all totally fresh ...

I see no change at all with the html report.

    Ken,

I haven't changed the bucket location yet ... its not relevant if we are deleting link anyway is it?

That's what I want .. the S3 link removed ... that doesn't seem to have happened my end.

    Thanks Mark

Mark, I have retest it with new submission and then create table report.
It all works fine, no s3 link anymore. Even the email notification no s3 links were added.

Can you please retest maybe its just a delay when updating some servers.

    Thanks,
    Kenneth

Just done a new submission: http://www.jotform.com/table/31954796208061

    Still not changed.

How long shall I leave it?

Hmm, I'm investigating why its not reflecting changes from your end. But please one more thing mark how about:
-rebuild your form, change something and then save using the form-builder.
    -clean your browser cache

Let me know if it works or not.

    Hi ken,

    That's worked: http://www.jotform.com/table/31954492562057

Can the file size stay on the same line ... difficult to see thumbnail otherwise

    Thanks

I shall do a few tests now ...

Ken ... while you are on it did you see these related posts ... I've got to try while you're hot on stuff ...

Did you see my forum post on the link syntax here as it changed from first API ...

     http://www.jotform.com/answers/243899-HTML-Grid-Reports-Link-To-Be-Filepicker-Extension-Not-Just-Image-jpg

Also ... grid reports are better than html becuase you can search submissions and filter effectively. Why, oh why, there isn't the magnifying glass thing on the grid reports:

    http://www.jotform.com/answers/243704-Request-Have-a-Hover-Thumbnail-on-Images-in-the-Grid-Listing-Report-like-on-HTML-Table-Report

Thanks Ken ... I'll come back to you straight away with testing

    Thanks Mark
