Unable to prepopulate fields via URL parameters on hidden fields or non hidden fields with special characters

Asked by scotsail on July 15, 2013 at 01:29 PM

Either my JotForm or my website is broken, but have done nothing to change it recently.

I have a webpage with a list of variables (taken from a dbase) - they are dates, prices etc for training course events.   I then psas thee variables via URL through to a booking page, and into my JotForm, for the form to handle the rest of the reservation process.

In order to pass the variable field values, you select an event and click 'Book Now'.   This takes you to the page where the JotForm is.

It was working fine up until at least yesterday (14th July 2013).   I can now see that two of the variables are now not being passed into the form fields, and I cannot understand why - nothing has changed at my end.

Please could someone take a look and let me know what you think?    Don't worry about using the form or website to book something whilst testing, it's ok:

    @scotsail

I've made a clone of your forms, and I can see the problem has to do with the way you have labeled the field (you probably edited it), currently it sows  Format/Duration, and probably other fields might present this issue when special characters are added, in this case such got a forward slash (/) so it generates an  tag {format}, so the browser does not understand where to drop the data

So if you notice on my clone ,   I changed the label from Format/Duration  to Format -Duration, which generated me a variable tag formatduration, and this one actually works while prepulating data

Same thing happened with hidden fields

Then, I replaced the hyphen by a dash, ie:  from type_hidden to typehidden, and it triggers the tag typehidden7, and so on

So this is the URL  I generated

    http://www.jotform.com/31955116403954?webdealPrice=185&ryaCourse=Start%20Yachting&courseDate5=2013-06-28&formatduration=Fri-Sun,%20Nights&typehidden7=Start%20Yachting&formathidden30=Fri-Sun,%20%20Nights&datehidden8=2013-06-28&pricehidden9=185

The prepopulation works fine for the nonhidden fields, however, it will not work for the hidden ones. So I am adding this note to the ticket

Thanks for that - also I notice that another one of my forms (ST General Contact Form) which has a hidden field called 'referrer' which is designed to tell me from which website the submission came, is also now not working.
    This seems related?
    Thanks!

Yes, this is basically the same issue with prepopulated hidden field. Our Development Team will check this out, and then we will get back to you.

The issue with non-populated hidden boxes should be resolved.

However, the ticket is also stating about special characters. Could you please re-check the form and let us know if anything is wrong now?

    Thank you for cooperation.

Hi, this issue seems to still exist, if I take this form above and pass in the values like this:

    http://www.jotformpro.com/form/31955116403954?webdealPrice=185&ryaCourse=Start%20Yachting&courseDate5=2013-06-28&formatduration=Fri-Sun,%20Nights&typehidden7=Start%20Yachting&formathidden30=Fri-Sun,%20%20Nights&datehidden8=2013-06-28&pricehidden9=185

If I view the source the hidden fields don't appear to have any values in the form, what am I missing? Thanks!
