Reference Just The Image URL Part of an Image Upload?

Asked by markashton on July 18, 2013 at 08:16 AM

    Hi,

We have various upload fields with jotform

Upload an image and you get a link to that image.

But if you want the very useful image link on its own ... without all the a href nonsense. Doesn't seem possible

Please take a quick look at this for an explanation ...

    Hi,

I'm time-pushed for this and as I do all your testing in real-time maybe you could do this for me ....

I need to know how to reference the url as clearly advised in this form I have created.

Can you look at it please and let me know ...

Hi mark, developers has update to this one.

At the moment, it only works on excel and csv reports.
You will get link for each file, if you have multiple file link they will be separated to "|" character.
Just to remind you again it does not apply on HTML and GRID table report.

    Thanks,
    Kenneth

    Ken,

If excel and csv are pulling in just the url ... is there a field description for just the url bit that I can use?

If I could get the field name that handles just the url bit .... I could do this ....

    1) On submission I could pass the url value through the url ...
    2) Into a hidden field that contains this: <img src={url}></img>
    3) On submission of this second form this would be displayed in a grid and html report as an image like this: http://www.jotform.com/grid/31975976684072

You see how beautiful this grid report is? Filepicker can crop the images to thumbnails like you see and even hyperlink to a _blank full image.

    Can you advise me?

    Thanks Mark

There is no any special field for links output.

We will look into this, but we can not provide any guarantees. Also, <img src={url}></img> will not work if someone upload multiple files, so this can be a problem.

    Thank you.

    Mike

Forget multiple files. I'm not interested in that. How does jotform pull just the url into the excel and csv reports?

There must be some field reference that is addressed

    Throw me a bone

    Please

I hope that this is something that we can fix, but we will need to wait for Kenneth's response here.

    Ken,

Check this ... I have come up with a solution that cues a lot of problems:

    What do you think?

    Ken,

Mark I'm not sure what you mean by that. Accessible from a field? From the form? from the reports? from the spreadsheet? Or what do you want to do with URL? can you be more specific on this one.

If I can grab the url of the image ...
I can pass it through into another form via Thankyou redirect ...
I would pass it into a hidden field that contained an expression like this:  <img src={url}></img>
On submission of form 2 ... the hidden field would display as an image in the Grid report ... which is what I am after.

It is one of many workarounds I am trying to get to display an image in the grid report ... this is what my clients want.

Of course if we can get the "image in grid report" done ... this would be unneccassry ... but I've got to crack it ... that's why I ask

    Thanks mark

    Thanks Mark

    Ken,

Any chance of a response on this?

Its my only option ... can I get the url of the image that is uploaded by filepicker.

    See this for explanation: http://form.jotform.co/form/31983555944871

    Jeanette ....

When's he going to get back to me?

As the grid report doesn't show images properly ....

As the filepicker integration has been abandoned ...

As the Google Spreadsheet integration is about as reliable as IVF treatment ...

As the Zapier integration categorically doesn't work ...

As all the reports spit out the url ... except for the grid and html reports ...

I could really do with a pointer

    Thanks Mark
