Is it possible to display an uploaded image in e-mail notification?

Asked by golasso on June 07, 2010 at 09:21 AM
Hello everyone.. I have a question I hope someone can answer it.

I've put a "file upload" into my form and I've set the extensions to "jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp"
In particular, I want the user to upload an image.

In the email I receive, I only see a download link (eg: 12211tafel.jpg) of the image, but the image itself is not displayed. Is there a way to fix this? A code I could use?

    Thanks a lot in advance.
PS: Jotforum is the fifth form creator I tried today, but I think this one will be the last! It is awesome!

When I click on that link it works fine.

It is very important for us to make sure JotForm is always up. That's why we have a system called "Load Balancing". What this means is that your data -including the uploaded files- are mirrored in multiple servers. So, when you receive an email from JotForm with the uploaded image link and you click on it quickly it is possible that the image has not been mirrored on the server you requested it from. Wait couple of minutes and try again and the link should work fine.

Thanks a lot for your quick answer ayetekin, but that was not what I meant.

Indeed, the image is fine when you click the link.

But, I was wondering, is it possible to make the image appear in the mail?

Now the uploaded image appears like this in the mail I receive:

but I want to see it in the mail, so that I don't have to click on the link anymore, like this:

    Would this be possible?
    Thanks a lot!

It should be possible. However, I just tested it on the HTML editor on the email wizard and it did not put the image in the email probably because the tag did not start with "http://".

I added this to our suggestions and we will look into making this possible.

Patti: I fixed the problem on your email by deleting the email and re-creating a new one. It now sends the uploaded file link in the emails.

I am still getting the link for the picture, not the actual picture, which is what I need.  It would be nice to be able to size the picture as well, not just have a thumbnail, like in the submission form.  Please let me know when this is available.

    Thank you,

This is in our feature requests list. So, we will try to implement it and if/when we do, I will post an update here.

    We have implemented this feature.

In order to display uploaded images directly on your email or custom thank you page, you should add IMG prefix into your upload tag. Such as: {uploadImage} => {IMG:uploadImage} this prefix will create an image with the original dimensions of the uploaded image. If you want to specify dimensions, you should provide them as arguments. Such as: {IMG:uploadImage:100:200} will put an image 100px wide and 200px tall.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I couldn't agree more, golasso. Just minutes ago, I signed up with JotForm and already I'm liking it more and more! Its a godsend for sure. There's lots of junk out there but this looks like the real deal. This form builder is the perfect fit for my purposes. Thanks, JotForm.

Where do you actually go within your form? I don't know exactly what to click or where to click to make this so...  I too need the image received in my outlook 2007 form...  I have to see the picture in my email... I prefer it to be around 1000x900 pixels...

I really do not understand at all where to put this tag? Please advise

In order for you to recieve your submissions , please make sure you had setup your email alerts with the right email address so you can get emails into Oulook.

Also, you might like to try our Dropbox integration so you can have your pictures stored not only in our servers but in your dropbox account. Please take a look at those guides and if you have more questions, please open a new thread and will take care of it as soon as possible
