To place textboxes side by side, you need to shrink them first so that they take up a small space.
To shrink a field:
1. Right click on the field
2. Choose Shrink
Then drag the shrunken fields beside each other so they sit side by side. Your form still cannot accomodate two fields in the same line, so you need to adjust the width of the form.
To modify form width:
1. Go to Form Style tab
2. Click the Form Width button
3. Enter a higher number for the width
4. Click OK
