    Hi! Thanks for contacting us.

Enabling Hide Empty Fields means that when you receive the notification email, fields that are not filled will not appear.

When you set up the notification email, there is the default content that has all the fields in it. iLike this:

If you change the content, then the hide empty fields will no longer work.

Let us know if you have further inquiries. Thanks!

So adding IP address and PDF link from the menu on the right makes it no longer ‘default’?

That's correct. When you add IP address and PDF link, you can see that even if Hide Empty Fields is enabled, it will no longer work as it should. So it really is only for the default email.

Please take a look at my email alerts. I created new ones without the IP address and PDF link with Hide Empty Fields enabled and the empty fields are still showing up in my emails.

    @ghobbins

I see you've edited your email notification. Default notification contains JotForm logo, replacing it with something else is considered to be not a default notification anymore or in our terms it's called "dirty template", which simply means a modified email template.

Please recreate your email notification (delete and create a new one) and this time don't make any alterations in order for the hide empty email feature to work properly.

    Thanks!

It is actually working so long as the email content is not edited.

As a sample, on one of my forms where it Hide Empty Fields is enabled, this is the result of the email when I included the IP address and PDF link

...but if it is simly the default email content

I have to agree, anything that is added from “your” menu should be considered default. This is really a nuisance.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I deleted the notification and autoresponder emails, created new "default" ones.

The notification to me is perfect.  The autoresponder is still showing empty fields.

I need to hide empty fields as I have in the past and was very disappointed to find this feature broken.  Notifications require at least a some alteration in order to be clear for clients.  Will placing a name and removing the jotform logo from the top section of a form break the hide empty fields feature?  If so, that is a failed condition.  Mine does not work.  Please repair the feature asap.  It is very important to provide clean notifications without maaaaany empty fields cluttering their view.  Hide empty fields is necessary.

The form I am currently concerned about is formID=32192908365863

Thank you in advance for prompt attention to this.

    Hello everyone,

We have implemented a feature that allows customization of email alerts without breaking the hide empty fields feature. However, for this to be possible we had to lock down the default table that contains the question and answer rows. Everything else outside of that table is free for editing though.

Note: You may choose to 'unlock' and edit the data table, but doing so will forfeit the ability to hide empty fields on the email.

Please do try it out and let us know what you think.

    Hello,

That a nice workarond but i have a question,

Is it possible to put for exemple on a upload field this {IMG:photo::200} without break the data table ?

And also remove some line ?

You can place that tag anywhere outside the data table. That table is off-limits, so the answer to your 2nd question is no.

By the way, you can add anything outside the data (q&a) table. You can even create another table for your own need, but please bear in mind that the hide empty fields feature only affects the data table.

I don't realy like this feature for me its not finish.

For exemple i need to put the Image preview of the upload next to the download link.

So I will need to make a double link.

    It's not clean !

The email editor is HTML-based, it is impossible to track down changes to the html codes that comprise your customized template and still be able to hide the rows that are empty.

This is the best workaround we can offer. Sorry about that.

I tried cloning my form, deleted all email notifiers, and used the default email template - but I changed to Text Mode - and ran the test. The blank fields came through. I take it this means I can't send text-only emails and use the hide blank fields feature? I can't send HTML emails to Lighthouse to create email-generated tickets, as it will just create a blank ticket.

    Hello JF Support Team-

Has anything been done since 2013 to help with this issue?  It is great there is a work around, but it would seem like we should be able to make edits to the table AND not have blank fields show.  It really is unfortunate that it is an EITHER/OR situation 3 years later.  Is there any chance of someone truly fixing the issue instead of relying on a workout that is super strict?

    Thank you!
