Display Headers in exported PDF File

Asked by 77crew on July 25, 2013 at 05:22 AM

My forms are being exported to email and PDF but the headings for different sections are not displayed in the exported form.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Dave,

You need to display first the Headers and Text found on your form submissions settings. Here's how:

    1. Select a form in your My Forms page.

    2. Click Submissions button and follow the following settings.

    Hope this helps. Thanks!

    Hello, Thanks for your reply.

Once I have changed this setting will all subsequent forms that are submitted include the headings?

    Hi,

Yes, it should then display the headers on the new submissions. You can also get the PDF file for the existing submissions in your form submissions page with the new settings. Simply click the "Get PDF" icon, please refer to my first screenshot for a guide.

You also need to set the same for your other forms if you want headers/texts to appear on the PDF submissions.

    Thanks!

    Hello again,

Unfortunately this is not working. I have ticked the show headers and text button but any form after this change is still not displaying the headings or sub headings. Surely there is a way to display the text written inside the form? For example in my form I have at the beginning "Please complete as many questions as possible" which does not show in the form after it has been exported. What is strange is that if the form is printed to pdf then the headings appear.

This is becoming very frustrating for my client as they are submitting forms for a legal procedure that does not state the headings for each section of the form.

    @77crew

My apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.

I was able to reproduce this issue. I checked the "Show Headers and Texts" in one of your form's submission list and I see the header text was not added in downloaded PDF.

I am forwarding this issue to our development team. As soon as there are any update on this you will get the notification via this thread.

Please let us know which browser are you using?

    Thanks,

    Sidharth

    Hi Dave,

Your form seems to be working fine on my end upon checking. All headers of your form shows on PDF as well. You can take a look at this video: http://www.screencast.com/t/enhOZZHVFo5a

Have you tried already clearing your browser cache and cookies as well as form cache? If not, can you please give a try to see if that issue still persist or not.

    Thank you!

    Hello,

The problem seems to occur when I click the submit form button, when the pdf arrives in my dropbox it looks like this https://www.dropbox.com/s/s6olum4a8uyiwsp/241094122277359763.pdf. Having to login to every form submission and tick the display headings button and then save again is a very long winded way of receiving the information ( it also means I have to give my customer my jotform login details and a view of my other private forms). I cannot understand why the headings are removed anyway!

    Regards

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

I've clone your form to investigate the issue and found out that you need first to enable "Show Headers and Texts" like what my colleague Elton suggested on his response in order to trigger all headers/text of your form. You can take a look at this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jfk2nr8vzy3q6ti/241095560512281198.pdf

I've made some TEST entry/submission into your form, kindly take a look at it if the issue still persist or not.

    Thank you!

I cannot see a way of switching show headers and texts on permanently. I can go into submissions and tick the button which displays them but I need this on by default so the forms which are exported to PDF show the headings and Texts.

Please feel free to submit some test forms so that you can see the output.

    Hi Dave,

As per requested, I've made some Test entry/submission on your "Road Traffic Accident - Questionaire.." form. Can you please check your Dropbox now if you can see all the headers of your form on my entry/submission?

    Thank you!

    Hi Dave,

Unfortunately, enabling "Show Headers and Texts" option of your form's submission would not reflect automatically on previous submission. The changes would only reflect to new submissions. The only way to Show Headers and Texts on first submissions is by downloading manually a PDF copy of that submissions of your form and add it into your DropBox.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

    Thank you!

Thanks. I do not need the historical forms to show the headings but it is critical that all new forms have these details included. Is that possible?

I have ticked the box that appears in the submissions area but when I exit that page and return to it, the tab is unticked again!

    Hi,

Good day! Let me go back to your responses:

I have ticked the box that appears in the submissions area but when I exit that page and return to it, the tab is unticked again!

-This shouldn't be the case. Once you checked the "Show Headers and Texts", that will always be checked unless you unchecked it from the settings.

-I have investigated this with the same process as yours. Check the box > Submit to the form > Get the submission as PDF File > Go back to the settings and it is still the same (not unchecked). Submitted twice but still not able to replicate this.

Although, I can see the images and the sub-heading problems. Please use the following methods to have it working for your PDF files:

    1. Use our Free Text HTML Fields to add Images, Headings and Sub-Headings, Terms and any Text Contents:

With this tool, you can resize images, resizes texts, customize fonts and add colors.

    2. Check "Shows Headers and Texts" in Form Submissions Page Settings. Guide is provided by my colleague to this thread.

    Example Output: http://submit.jotformpro.com/server.php?action=getSubmissionPDF&sid=242738416642335613&formID=32305278474961

This should work for you as I have tested this three times.

    Thanks
