    Return Old JotForm Form Editor?

Asked by quadbsys on July 26, 2013 at 09:32 AM

Is there a way to access the old editor? The new one is very frustrating and glitchy and I would like to switch to the old one if possible. I know there is a way to get to the old "My Forms" layout so I thought maybe it would be possible.

That said, I'm sure you would be interested in knowing why.

    I can't imagine I'm the only one having these issues, the "new" editor is so Javascript heavy and very clunky and glitchy. After working with it on multiple computers and multiple months - A few of the issues I have witnessed (in the newest Google Chrome and FireFox);

    - Inability to login properly. I enter my details and the form just sits there. Have to refresh the whole page and enter details again

    - Sometimes the whole adding fields oolumn will just break and you can't add more fields until you completely refresh the page

    - You have to right click to select items, which then brings up the JotForm context menu which is very confusing

    - I'll get some kind of timeout error where it says "Saving form failed" even though it saved the form properly. But then from that point on, the Save button is gone and it is constantly "saving" with the little circle indicator

    - Moving items around seems impossible unless you have a touchscreen! I feel bad for people that don't. I haven't found a way to move a field from the bottom to the top without right-clicking and using the UP and DOWN arrows repeatedly. On my touchscreen I can click and drag and it will work, but how for the people who don't?

    - Randomly, clients will call and conditionals will just stop working until I delete the whole form and recreate it.

    - Clicking a button at the top like the email button after I am done with it, it will stay open until I refresh the page.  (Which is mainly just annoying because it blocks the top of my form)

I am not sure if there is a way to return to the old form editor.I have forwarded your concern to our developers to find out if there is a way to switch from the old form editor.

Regarding the issue you are experiencing with the new form builder, please try clearing your browser cache from the beginning, reset browser to its default setting and disable all 3rd party browser plugin as this might causing issue with the form builder

We have been improving the JotForm form builder over the years but the last time we made complete change was 3 years ago. Have you been using v2.jotform.com during the last 3 years and just switched to the new version?

Are you using some kind of touchscreen computer?

We are using a touchscreen computer but it works when I am not on the touchscreen as well. We have been using it for a while, but the frustration is really getting too much to handle. We use www.jotform.com to work on. We have a black and wood background if that tells you what version we are using.

Using the latest Chrome and we have tried on 2 different computers. We don't have any third party plugin except Adblock plus - and it is disabled for *jotform.com* These are our top "gripes":

    - Sometimes the whole adding fields oolumn will just break and you can't add more fields until you completely refresh the page

    - You have to right click to select items, which then brings up the JotForm context menu which is very confusing

    - Moving items around seems impossible unless you have a touchscreen! I feel bad for people that don't. I haven't found a way to move a field from the bottom to the top without right-clicking and using the UP and DOWN arrows repeatedly. On my touchscreen I can click and drag and it will work, but how for the when not on touchscreen?

    - Sometimes the whole adding fields oolumn will just break and you can't add more fields until you completely refresh the page

This is not happening from my side, but the web technologies are not perfect, so there migh be different cases.

    - You have to right click to select items, which then brings up the JotForm context menu which is very confusing

It is quite strange if the left click is not working.

The drag and drop is supposed to be okay using computer mouse.

It sounds like Javascript is not working right in your case.

To make sure that the issue is not related to the Chrome Adblock plus, please try using the editor in browser incognito tab (Ctrl + Shift + N).

I don't think you are talking about the change we made on JotForm 3 years ago. Can you send us some screenshots about what you are seeing?

I will try to get you a shot of the console when the left hand side fails. Here is a screenshot of what left clicking does... AdBlock plus is disabled across JotForm.

This is latest version Chrome on Windows 8

Thank you for provided screenshot. I have added it to the ticket.

However, we do not receive similar reports from other users, so there might be something wrong with browser, network or computer on your end. I have also tried to reproduce the issue on my Windows 7, and Windows 8 (via http://www.browserstack.com), but my tests went through without any issues.

There are some things you can try to see if that makes any differences:

    - Clear your form caches

    - Use incognito/private browser tab

    - Use other internet provider

    - Disable any security software you use

    - Use other computer from different network
