Automatically send the user a file at "submit?"

Asked by chris james on July 26, 2013 at 07:14 PM

    HI gang -

I'm working in Adobe Muse and want to include a CAPTCHA box to thwart spam, but I can only do that in Muse if I use Adobe's Business Catalyst system. I want to use my own isp instead so I am looking at how to create a simple form with JotForm.

Unless I'm overlooking it I don't see a way to automatically send a user a file when they send me their name and email address. What I want to do is to offer the user a free chapter of my new book (marketing ploy) while capturing their email address so i can contact them when the book is published. When they submit the request a file - in this case a 1.9 Mb .pdf - downloaded to their machine for either reading or printing. (see the Muse example in the screen shot).

I'm not seeing a way to "request information" or the like to send the user a file automatically.

Any assistance would be most welcome.

    Thanks!

    chris james

    Hi Chris,

I assumed, since you are using Dropdown field from your example, you allow people to choose what file to download after they submit. If this is correct, you can do so using the following methods:

    1. Add the Dropdown field with all the options to your form

    2. Create a Form Notification for each file you have. So, if you have three (3) download links, create three (3) notifications as well.

    3. Using our Conditional Logic, send the Notification to the submitter with the correct file download link that correspond to their selection from the Dropdown field in the form.

    Full Three Logic:

The tag {emailTo} if the Email Field from your form. You can get the tag by "Right Clicking" on the field and click "Properties". See this image: CLICK HERE!

Example form: http://form.jotform.co/form/32068837478871? Try to submit using your valid email address to see the output.

Let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Thanks

Another method is to Give the Download Link to the Custom Thank You Message page after submission. Still using the Conditional Logic: CLICK HERE!

    Example Form: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/32068311231946?

    The Logic:

    Full Logic:

Test the form and select item from the Dropdown Options to see the output.

    Thanks
