In the auto responder e-mail I would like to put in email@example.com. This e-mail address doesn't exist, but now it is asking me to verfiy the address with a verification code. I was able to put in this address up to a while ago, has the functionality of the autoresponder e-mail changed?

Yes, we have changed our Email Settings. You need to verify the email address to use it as the Sender Email.
I would suggest to create that email from your host, then verify, then delete after the verification. That should work.
