We are working on a HUD project and are required to collect clients’ social security nos. Could we do that on the Gold or Enterprise level if we use encryption?

Online Form Builders, including Jotform, are sometimes being used for identity theft and we go to great lengths to prevent this. That is why collecting ID numbers is considered as phishing activity, as stated in our Terms of Use. Our phishing detector will automatically flag the forms found and suspend the account or this can be manually performed by our Staff.

If your purpose is not to collect these data from the general public, but from your own customers, then you need to comply with two things.

    1. Add the Terms & Conditions Widget (or the Short Scrollable Terms Widget) for your users to read and agree.

    2. Add a Signature Widget so your users can sign and agree to provide such sensitive information.

However, we do not allow uploads of any sensitive personal information like passports, social security cards, driver's licenses, credit/debit cards and statements, bank statements, voided cheques, birth/marriage certificates, visas and photo IDs.

As long as the forms are complying to our terms of usage, it shall be okay with Free subscription plan as well. Also, please check our security web page for more information on data security.
