Can I receive payments via Square without a square account?

I recently had my wallet and checkbook stolen from my car. The thieves began using the credit cards right away. I stopped and froze everything. The interresting thing is that I received a payment from square in the amount of $350 to my checking account. I do not have a square account. Is it possible that they set up an account in my name in the hopes that they can withdraw from it? Is it possible to receive payments via square without an account?
