    Hi,

I am new to this software and giving it a try for Mac. I see that I can create forms online, but I downloaded the app from the Mac store, and it doesn't seem to offer the facility to create new forms locally.

Can you point me to some getting started instructions?

Hello @catrahal - You should be able to create forms using the mobile app. Please refer to this guide on How-to-Create-Your-First-Form-with-JotForm-Mobile-Forms.

When you say locally, do you mean you are creating forms while offline? If so, unfortunately, that isn't possible. You can make the existing forms to be available offline but not when creating new forms.

By locally I mean I am creating sample forms that will be printed in a book. They won't be used for data collection into a database, but rather for users to list personal information that will be kept eventually in paper form or on a USB key. Down the road I will make similar forms that can be downloaded and used, but the immediate need is local.

this is what the screen looks like when I open the Mac app. Nowhere do I see a place to start a new form, and there is nothing in the file menus either. This looks like it is only for forms that have already been created.

I am sorry to inform you, but we do not offer a local version of JotForm. The Mac app is designed only to manage received data. We would like to suggest creating forms through https://www.jotform.com or iOS/Android app. You can print created forms and/or add PDF form versions.
