The ability to modify email notification without breaking the Auto Hide Empty Emails function

Asked by sbohler on August 11, 2013 at 10:45 PM

I am starting a new thread from this thread: http://www.jotform.com/answers/246920-Can-we-upgrade-the-Hide-Empty-Email-Fields-feature-to-include-the-other-fields-like-PDF-Link-and-IP-Address#15

I need to hide empty fields as I have in the past and was very disappointed to find this feature broken.  Notifications require at least a some alteration in order to be clear for clients.  Will placing a name and removing the jotform logo from the top section of a form break the hide empty fields feature?  If so, that is a failed condition.  Mine does not work.  Please repair the feature asap.  It is very important to provide clean notifications without maaaaany empty fields cluttering their view.  Hide empty fields is necessary.

The form I am currently concerned about is formID=32192908365863

Thank you in advance for prompt attention to this.

Thank you Pinotech.  Unfortunately, my client is now complaining loudly.  Their notification email is too long and must only include completed fields.  I have a simple title on their notification with the jotform logo removed and the result is a very long and improper notification to my client.

Have you removed the modification check that disables the hide incomplete fields feature when we customize notifications yet?  I can certainly understand a required logo for free service, but I am a paying client.  This restriction imposes a serious problem.  I am trying to be absolutely clear about professional developer needs.

Please... today.  I don't want to lose my client due to this unnecessary restriction with poor results.  I don't want to change platforms either.  I like jotform and want to stay with you.  Help me do that.

Please elevate this to whatever level of management is required to get it fixed today.

    Thank you,

    Scott

    Hi Scott,

Good day! Our Auto Hide Empty fields from the from advance settings will only work with the default email notification formatting. Having the logo removed from the settings and or any modification made into the email body would caused the mentioned issue to happen.

Have you removed the modification check that disables the hide incomplete fields feature when we customize notifications yet?

-If you mean from our end, that is NO. We do not disable/removed the function. Again, that works only with the default email body formatting.

I can certainly understand a required logo for free service, but I am a paying client.  This restriction imposes a serious problem.  I am trying to be absolutely clear about professional developer needs.

-Unfortunately, this is applied to all users who use this function. This is how it works for us as of this moment.

Please elevate this to whatever level of management is required to get it fixed today.

-A ticket is already created. However, we cannot disclose any timeframe as to when this get implemented. We'll surely let you know for updates.

    Thanks

    Thank you Welvin,

1 - What do I tell my angry client who wants an ETA?

2 - "We do not disable/removed the function. Again, that works only with the default email body formatting."
I am not challenging your policy response, but let us be clear.  If the feature breaks when the fully-customizeable form is customized, then something checks for customization and disables the feature.  This does not work for me, your client.

As a paying client and developer I need an ETA.

What happened when you elevated this to management?

    Thanks,

    Scott

We can not provide any ETA as our Development Team Members have to prioritize their efforts in order to implement/fix the most important things first. The issue with auto-hide option is not that critical, so unfortunately, we can not guarantee that this will be fixed right away.

Your request was escalated per a bug report ticket, and that ticket was approved and marked as important by our Management.

If you need need some custom setup you can consider using our API. For example, Receive Submission -> Send Email using some third party service. Also, it might be possible to use Zapier integration, for your task.

    Mike,

This issue is critical to your client.

Thank you for the additional information, but I don't need custom setup.  I need the broken service repaired.

What is the current status as of this morning?

    Hi Scott,

Good day! We know how good to everybody if the current settings can work with the modified email body. But unfortunately, as of this moment, this is still pending. Our developers are working hard to accommodate every request and bug reports but as we have mentioned, everything will come into order, base on its priority.

Still, your patience and understanding for this matter is highly appreciated.

    Thanks

I am also waiting for a resolution on this.  I don't need a separate ticket... my issue is the exact same as the OP's.  I agree that this is pretty ridiculous.  I am on the highest paid level of service.  I am forced to recreate all my forms in Gravity Forms because Jotform lacks this very basic functionality.

    Hello everyone,

We have implemented a feature that allows customization of email alerts without breaking the hide empty fields feature. However, for this to be possible we had to lock down the default table that contains the question and answer rows. Everything else outside of that table is free for editing though.

Note: You may choose to 'unlock' and edit the data table, but doing so will forfeit the ability to hide empty fields on the email.

Please do try it out and let us know what you think.
