Take any form ..
Preferences > General Settings ...
Page Title ... doesn't affect the page title at all
Title above it governs this ...
What is the point of Page Title ??
I would like to have a name for my form ... and a different page title for the form.
- pinoytechAnswered on August 20, 2013 at 08:52 AM
I've check one of my form to investigate the issue but I wasn't able to replicate the issue. Please take a look at this video: http://www.screencast.com/t/vvt1O8b7
Kindly clear your browser cache and cookies as well as form cache to fixed the issue.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
- markashtonAnswered on August 20, 2013 at 08:59 AM
Hi Pinoytech ...
No ... you're dealing with title ... which defines the title of the form.
I'm on about the field underneath it called 'Page Title' ... that should change what is in the <title> tags in the head section ... and thus the page title that is shown in the browser tab ...
Did you really read the question properly ... I suggest giving it another read ...
You've answered a totally different question .. that hasn't been asked.
Thanks for being on the case thought ;-)
Many thanks mark

Respectfully ... What utter nonsense ....
So ... set your page title in the form title orange bar ... so that all your forms are named in the My Forms area ... not by what you want them to be .... but by the Page title you want ... absolute rubbish!
Form Name ... adding the header function ... ?? Eh? I won't even go there ....
Let me be extremely clear ....
Editing the orange bar ... is providing the form with a Form Title ... also editable here:
Form Preferences > General Settings > Title
Yet ... in Form preferences can any jotform support staff see the following ....
Preferences > General Settings > Form Title
A field of its own called: Form Title
Now ... deep breath ...
Can someone explain to me the purpose of this function ... or has no one ever seen it ?
- JotForm SupportjonathanAnswered on August 20, 2013 at 04:04 PM
Hi Mark, you must be referring to this
As the description on the Page Title indicate, it was for the Title of the form's HTML document when shared as a stand alone page.
But on my latest test, it does not seems to work as intended.
Do let me investigate it a bit more. If this is a confirm bug, I will escalate.
I will provide you update as soon as I can.
- JotForm SupportjonathanAnswered on August 20, 2013 at 04:15 PM
I was able to establish the issue.
It was actually had been resolved previously here
But must have re occur again because I can see now like this.
I will elevate this to our next level support.
Sorry for any inconvinience caused. We will update you as soon as we can.
- markashtonAnswered on August 21, 2013 at 04:31 AM
Yeah ... you're right ... it was initially a post made by me April 22 2011 http://www.jotform.com/answers/22800-Is-it-possible-to-change-the-page-title-for-a-Jotform
Feb 28 2013 ... the issue was advised as fixed
What happened ... did some gremlin go in and rewrite the code?
Can I request this fixed asap please .... I want to use it
- KadeJMAnswered on August 21, 2013 at 10:18 AM
Hey Mark, That's true and we see what you mean. It probably reoccurred due to some updates that modified a bit of the surrounding code which most likely broke something unfortunately. Anyhow, despite the incident, my colleague Jonathan has opened your thread into an escalated Bug Report already as he mentioned which I can see. So our Developers will definitely look into this issue as soon as they get around to it. I also understand how important this is to you and many other users who want to be able to use it so I'm certain it will be fixed asap.
- markashtonAnswered on August 22, 2013 at 07:54 AM
Yeah ... hope so .. now I know its broken it's a pain ... what level of escallation does this have?
- JotForm SupportWelvinAnswered on August 22, 2013 at 12:41 PM
Good day! This is currently marked as Important. Thanks for reporting. Please stay tune for updates.
- markashtonAnswered on August 23, 2013 at 04:42 AM
A thought ...
It may be wise to make the 'Page Title' default to the 'Title' field initially ... then most users will have a relatively sensible Page Title i.e. the form name.
Otherwise, everyone is going to have to amend the default 'Page Title' from the word Form (which is currently the default) to their preferred choice!
I look forward to this being fixed please.
- markashtonAnswered on August 27, 2013 at 04:26 AM
Thought I'd go to use the Heading tool to try and govern the Page Title.
That doesn't work now either does it?
So, as it stands no jotform user has a way to change the page title ... a fundamental of any html page .... unless they change the actual form name .... which is used for identification purposes by the creator of the form ... not as a way to change what the user sees ...
This is crap ... you should change it today.

- markashtonAnswered on August 27, 2013 at 08:23 AM
Mmm ... whose gonna want to do all that work to get a page title ... when the function is supposed to be there already?
What miffs me is that I pushed for it for ages ... at the expense of my time .... check here: http://www.jotform.com/answers/22800-Is-it-possible-to-change-the-page-title-for-a-Jotform
I then get advised it's fixed ... one can conclude this is total bulls**t or the whole operation is like the film Naked Gun... but without the humour ??
Now. here's the thing ... since my enquiry April 22 2011 nowt has changed ...
What the hell do all these developers do ... please enlighten me on what they are all doing now that is more important than fixing this ...
Can't change the page title of a basic jotform ... beggars belief !
- JotForm SupportEltonCrisAnswered on August 27, 2013 at 12:07 PM
As far as I have observed they are currently working on improving the developers page. Don't you worry Mark, since this has been assigned to them, they'll take care of this as soon as they can.
Thank you for your patience.
- markashtonAnswered on August 28, 2013 at 07:16 AM
Correction on yesterdays post ....
I state ...
Now. here's the thing ... since my enquiry April 22 2011 nowt has changed ...
What I mean't to say was ....
"Its actually gone backwards .. as at least you were able to change the page title with the heading function" ... but that's gone.
Can the developers ditch the developers page/ API thing and fix some bugs that affect fundamentals
- KadeJMAnswered on August 28, 2013 at 10:07 AM
Heya Mark, Thank You for the updated and corrected information. I will pass along the information and we'll see what we can get done and get back to you as soon as possible.
- markashtonAnswered on August 31, 2013 at 10:07 AM
11 days have gone by and this bug has not been fixed ...
If I was the boss ... I'd get everyone off development work for 1 week ... and fix every "bug" possible with that engineering resource .... what is the point of developing new stuff when the existing stuff doesn't work properly?
A jotform user can not do the most basic html thing imaginable ... i.e. change the **** title of the form.
Now ... tell me ... this is assigned as IMPORTANT yeah?
Who is it assigned to please?
- markashtonAnswered on September 03, 2013 at 11:17 AM
No reply ... mmm ...
The response time for fixing bugs is utterly unacceptable.
Unfortunately ... you cannot be relied on as a tool for people's business .... because your response time in handling the problem is simply months ...
You put a smokescreen of people to say sorry ... but that's not good enough ...
I'm so utterly fed up with relying on you lot ... its going to have to change
Sorry ... its causing me a problem with Clients .... please could you see your way to fixing this rather fundamental bug. A lot of people may go into Preferences and set this ... but it is just a waster of their time isn't it?
- jeanettebmzAnswered on September 03, 2013 at 02:01 PM
We can proudly say that we got a development team and a maintenance team to take care of bugs. You know we have settled many of your requests and have fixed many of the bugs your have reported.
However, as you already might know, our developers teams work on prioritized tasks. At any rate, I just sent a message to our CTO, so we can get the status of this ticket.
- markashtonAnswered on September 03, 2013 at 02:09 PM
You've fixed some yeah ... where would I post the 60 bugs that I am sitting on?
I don't want to though ... because I have them prioritised ... and telling you bugs might put the important ones down the list.
Can this one be fixed please ... It's dead simple ... I mean it worked once ...
PS .. I'm gonna post this twice a day from now on ;-)
- jeanettebmzAnswered on September 03, 2013 at 02:12 PM
You are not going to speed up anything by doing such thing, Mark.
At any rate, I just spoke with Neil from the maintenance team, who was the one that fixed this before. So looks like it will get fixed sooner than later.

This rather simple ... and obvious bug ... that effects the core offering of Jotform ... was reported 384 hours ago.
This is a bug ... not a feature request ... a bug!
It is one that misleads the user ... look at the interface ... it clearly states its intention ... and yet you are happy to let all your users carry on regardless ... and try this function in the belief that it works.
384 hours and counting....
You state that you give bugs top priority ... if you don't you're the only SAAS service that doesn't.
So. have you been fixing 384 hours worth of bugs?
Can you provide me with some examples please?
Or ... can you just fix this ... so that the product does what it says on the tin ??
Is it too much to ask?
- JotForm SupportNeilVicenteAnswered on September 06, 2013 at 09:32 AM
Fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
- markashtonAnswered on September 06, 2013 at 12:45 PM
Thanks Neil. Looks good from initial test.
