Backup FormsAsked by bemycommish on August 26, 2013 at 02:16 PM
I'm very concerned about paying as a service until I see a sure way to backup forms. My question is that if I go into Embed and download the source code is that enough to restore my form in the unlikely event that my form or account is completely deleted and otherwise unrecoverable? If yes, how would you or I (from a technical perspective) perform the restore?
Good day! Nope, you cannot restore a form through its source codes. But we keeps a backup in a period of time. If you delete a form, it will be stored to your My Forms Trash Folder. You can simply go to Trash Folder > Click the form you want to restore > Click Restore button:
But we cannot restore a form that is intentionally deleted or purge from Trash Folder or My Forms Folder.
We also have the ability to undelete an account. If you requested to delete your account and want to restore it back, that is possible.
so how may I feel confident that if I make a form for a client that I will never lose it? I cant believe any website would operate without this possibility. This is very disturbing. What is the timeframe that the deleted form is kept? Is it recoverable if that time passes?
First off, we do not delete user forms so it's impossible to lose your form without intentionally removing it from your account. It is up to your discretion and the way you use it. If you delete your form, they will not be automatically removed from your account instead it sets in your trash folder and you can restore it anytime you wish as explained to you by my colleague.
Nevertheless, backing up a form can also be done by cloning your form to another account. That's the best way I could think of doing that. If in any case, you can restore back your cloned form to your original account by cloning the form. Here's a guide: How to Clone an Existing Form
We do not put time frame on deleted forms, it will stay forever in your trash folder unless you purged/clean your trash folder.
