    How to create dependencies among field values (Revised)?

    Asked by SystemAdmin on June 10, 2010 at 03:15 AM
    I'm sorry if my question was not clear.

    Here is my previous question:

    I am new to JotForm and this is is how I see things with regard to making Conditions:

    Data:

    Unit      Department       Employee
    1                A                       A
    2                B                       B
    3                C                       C

    If Unit = 1
      then
        Show = Department

    If Department = A
       then
         Show = Employee

    This is what I have so far. What I need is a method on how to show the corresponding Department and Employee values for each unit. So, I want:

    If Unit = 1
      then
         Show = A

    If Unit = 1
       then
         Show = A

    If Unit = 2
      then
         Show = B

    If Unit = 2
       then
         Show = B

    Is my question clear? How can I resolve this issue?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Here's what I mean: (Please refer to the table)
    To avoid further confusion, I changed the table values.

    Data:

    Unit      Department       Employee
    1                First                  A
    2                Second             B
    3                Third                 C

    This means that:
    Unit 1 has the attributes Department First and Employee A.
    Unit 2 has the attributes Department Second and Employee B.
    Unit 3 has the attributes Department Third and Employee C.

    If Unit = 1
        then
           Show Department

    My option is just limited to that. I want to make a condition wherein:

    If Unit = 1
        then
            Show "First"

    First refers to the value of the field Department which corresponds to Unit 1.

    If Unit = 1
       then
           Show "A"
    A refers to the value of the field Employee which also corresponds to Unit 1.

    As I said earlier, JotForm allows conditions that is dependent on the field not on the values. How will I be able to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance! :D

    Hi,

    If I understand correctly, you would like to be able to select a value from a field depending on the value of another. Sorry but this is not possible with JotForm.

    Using conditionals you can show/hide certain form elements but you cannot set their values.
