Spreadsheet widget values are located in one cell in Excel

I might be missing something, but in addition to the spreadsheet widget that I have put in my form, I have added other types of short answer, numeric questions, etc. I see the responses easily in the submission responses forwarded to my email, however, when I go to review all the data and add additional formulas to a downloaded version of the compiled results in an Excel document the individual fields where I have asked for multiple data fields to be completed all the values provided are located in one cell per submission and I am seemingly unable to calculate the total values of each fields' data collected in separate cells.

Firstly, could you let us know if you are referring to this form https://form.jotform.com/201624834021040?

If yes, could you let us know which multiple data fields are you referring to?

If you are referring to the Spreadsheet widget, then it will appear inside one single cell only as it is a single field.

You will need to manually split the values into separate columns.

OR  You could use the Input Table instead, so the data would be shown in separate cells, but all the cells of the Input Table will also be placed into 1 line of an exported XLS file (in separate columns).

    Thank you for your response!

Yes, I am referring to that form. My point is that I ask how much did the SNAP sales total, how many dollars did you distribute in this currency, vs. that currency, and so on in numeric valued questions and that each of those answers are split into different cells. Thus, when I go to look at the sum total of everyone's answers I can easily input the formula into the downloaded Excel file and monitor it. However, as you have stated, I had wanted the Spreadsheet widget to be able to collect additional numeric values and similarly download the data into separate cells for total summation of all submissions, however, instead it all appears in one single cell.

The Input Table function, as suggested, will download the data into separate cells? And, will those completing the form be able to add both text and numeric text? I still need them to be able to complete both and then be able to compile all of the individual amounts of total dollars of redemptions and other various numeric questions within multiple service areas (one submission is currently collecting data within the table between various locations (counties for the sake of our form) meaning totals completed at location a, b, and c - I need to be able to keep those totals separate but also want to be able to add them together as a whole for data analysis purposes without having to manually compute those figures).

Hi, thank you for your response.

As to my understanding, you wanted each cell of the Spreadsheet widget to be in separate cells when downloading the submissions as an Excel file. Please note that the Spreadsheet widget will lump its data into a single cell when downloading as an Exel file.

As my colleague suggested, you can alternatively use the Input Table widget. The widget will allow you to download the data into separate cells. You can also add an UPDATE?CALCULATE field condition to the widget to do some calculations for you. We have a detailed guide about it here: calculate-values-in-the-input-table-through-condition

I hope this will help. Please give it a try and let us know if you need any assistance.

Thank you! I think that this will work well for what I am in need of while analyzing the data collected.

Off this topic... One last question,

if I wanted to insert a downloadable document for the form user or hyperlink to the downloadable form found elsewhere online is that an option?

    Hi,

I have moved your other question to a new support ticket to respond to it separately to avoid confusion. We will get back to you via this thread shortly https://www.jotform.com/answers/2629672.

    Thank you.
