Create a pin code form with conditions

Asked by wgage on September 07, 2013 at 11:31 PM

I want to be able to do a contest with pin codes and if they write a pin code I do not have registered it will say not valid

do you have any tool for this set up

Hello wgage, You can use conditional formatting to allow you to view the form only if the code matches the conditional rule.

The downside to this is that he codes may be viewable by a user that tries to view your sites source code, so I would suggest to utilize more clever codes than the "HELLO" code on my example.

This is my example form and conditional rule that shows the form only by typing HELLO on the field.

how do I have it so my pin code box is not showing on the form I don't want
others to have to put pin code in 2 times, do I use the hidden box, but if
I do that will it show at all to put code in before it goes to form

Answered by Cesar on September 08, 2013 at 01:58 AM

If you use the hidden box, the users will not be able to see that hidden box field, only you.

That would help you verify if the form you are receiving is authenticate and not a spoof/fake copy of your orignal form. To make sure I'm understanding what you are trying to achieve, you want the user to type in a pin he received from you, prior to having access to the form, am I correct? Thank you.

Also, if possible, do provide us the FormID so that we may have a clearer picture of what you are working with.

Yes, but it will be different pins for different people, so I have to put
at least 50 pins in, and remove them when they been used. so they can not
enter contest with a incorrect pin

not a password though just Pin Codes to enter a contest, and it has to
match or they can not submit the form it will say invalid if typed in
wrong, anything that will do I like your idea also but can't figure it out,
have to get pin correct before u see form

There is another way to limit the amount of times a pin can be used, as to avoid multiple form submissions with the same pin.

That can be done by way of Form Limits.

Located under Preferences on the top toolbar of the Form Editor.

Then click on Form Limits, as you can se below, by selecting the Unique Question limit and setting it's value to Contest Code, which was my field where I would type the pin, this will restrict multiple submissions if it detects that the pinyou are typing in has already been used.

    1

If you need further clarifications of the examples I've provided, do reply, if not, you can also provide us the form 's link, let us know, in case you still need further assistance on this. Thank you.

The FormID is the link to access the form you've created, such as the FormID link I posted above.

and I have multiple pin rules am I suppose to have 1 for all pins equal to
and 1 for all pin equal not to?
  • Profile Image

Answered by Cesar on September 08, 2013 at 02:51 PM

It would be one rule per code, I'm checking on it that form, but it will take me some time to evaluate what is causing the behavior to show not valid even after successfully going to the next step. I'll definetly keep you posted on this once I've found a soltion to this.

codes seem to work, not getting email notified of entry tests and I see
    there is still multiple rules
  • Profile Image

Answered by wgage on September 08, 2013 at 04:30 PM
I tested my email I get it, but if I put in a new code that I never used
and fill out all fields press submit, I go to my thank you page as suppose
to but I will not receive that notification, but I go try the pin again I
get far as submitting form and it does come up with warning page, so
everything is good besides all those multiple rules and not getting
    notified when I enter
  • Profile Image

Answered by Cesar on September 08, 2013 at 04:35 PM

Unfortunately the multiple rules are neccesary to make the condition work. In regards to the emails not beign received, please check they are not arriving in the Junk mail folder, as the test email does arrive.

If the issue persists, kindly create a new thread so that we may tackle that issue on its on thread. Thank you.

Do try clearing your JotForm's Cache, and then retry the form, it may be that all those rules may cause it to need help to be refreshed. Also try to clear the cahe on your browser as new codes may could be being tried on a past cahced version of your browser.

    Hi,

Please understand that this is happening,,

ok I did what u said clear cache it worked then I went to go add more codes
to see that all my rules turned to the same, before that it was half and
half and working I hope no one still trying to fix it, cause it was ok, now
    all codes are invalid again

because the Form Limits / Unique Submissions via Loose Check (cookie check) is set to ON in the form http://form.jotform.ca/form/32499053926261

Everytime you clear the cache, the cookie is erased, thus, you can submit the form again for 1 time (unique). But after that, you cannot submit again and will need to clear the browser cache to remove the loose check(cookie check).

Please review this guide How-to-Set-Unique-Submissions-on-a-Form for more details.

Inform us if you need further assistance.

    Thanks.
