Google Spreadsheet Integration: It creates a new row in spreadsheet when upon editing a submission

Asked by ukff on September 08, 2013 at 12:53 PM

I've Integrated my form with Google Spreadsheet.

When I edit a form submission using jotform: edit: submit, the jotform data is correctly updated, however in Google Spreadsheet the last form that was submitted by a user is repeated. In other words when Google Spreadsheet is updated, the pointer in jotform must be pointing to the latest submission and NOT the record that was updated using the Edit function.

    Thanks for contacting us.

I made some tests with one of my forms and I was able to see what you are talking about. When a submission is edited a new row is created in the Google spreadsheet:

However, please let me tell you that this is the way the Integration works. Everytime you edit a submission it will create a new row with the updated info in the spreadsheet.

However I would be more than glad to forward a feature request to our next level support team if you reallly need this to work in a different way.

    Thanks for using Jotform.

Thanks, but I do not require a new feature. I believe there is a coding error.

    Here's a better description:

    A form has 5 submissions e.g. submission id: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

In jotform edit: select submission id 3 (NB choose any submission id but NOT 5 i.e. do not choose the last/final submission id) and update it, and then submit the form.

In jotform you will see that submission id 3 has been correctly updated.

In Google Spreadsheet you will see that there is a new row and submission id 5 (and NOT 3) has been resubmitted.

Please test again and verify if same occurs for you.

Like Eliezer explained to you, this is how the Google spreadsheet integration work currently. Our internal spreadsheet that you see at the submission page will work in a different way. As you may know, we use an API for each 3rd party integration.

However, whether it's a bug or not, this can be something we can request to our developers so they can contact Google and get an updated API or see if they can fix it with the current, in order to allow our users to accomplish the same results as in our internal spreadsheet

At any rate, I've already opened a ticket to check this further. You should get an update about it on this thread

I have this same event occurring.  I may edit form #52 or # 63 or #67and resubmit but the spreadsheet is not adding a line for a resubmitted form #52, #63 and #67 but each time repeating the final form lodged, form #75 x 3 times.
