I'm with mtirigall on this, I am having exactly the same issue, it disables all the automated excel work into manual labour, agh. It is in the download to excel where there is an issue, it is fine in csv although it wont recognise leading zeros e.g. in bank accounts and telephone numbers.

    Hi,

Could you please share the form link so we can investigate it further?

Are you also using the Scale Rating field that turns the result into text? (Issue of the other user)

Could you please a screenshot of the Excel with an issue?

We'll wait for your reply. Thank you!

Sorry, you lost me on a Scale Rating field, they are all number fields e.g. Telephone or calculations where the calculation widget shows the numbers in black.

It applies to all my forms, here is just 1:

I have blacked out names and emails. You will see the csv downloads numbers but not the leading zero, the xlsx downloads all numbers as text.1604135316_5f9d2994f2037_2020-10-31 (2).1604135316_5f9d2994465ea_2020-10-31 (1).

Are you referring to the "Number of tickets" field - which is a Form calculation widget on the form?

The downloaded submission excel shows this field data as Text. Is that the issue?

If it is the Phone field, I can see that it has zero at the beginning of the number - when downloaded in Excel:

This number is also saved in Text format in the Excel file.

Which default format would you like these fields to save data on the downloaded excel file?

Please review and let us know.

Correct, but it is true for all number fields, when I download to excel they convert to text, if I download to csv then it remains as a number but it is time consuming. What do I need to do? Obviously I want to keep numbers as numbers, my other forms are more complex so I sent the simple one.

    Hi there,

If I understood correctly, it is time-consuming because in the phone column you have to change all the phone numbers from "text" to "number" format one by one?

If yes, then please follow the steps below to change all the entries in the Phone column to "numbers" at once.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks.

No it's every number. My other forms have many more columns, all with numbers. You did just one column adding say 2 min to every download, imagine doing that for a form with say 50 number columns all spread out unevenly. The problem appears to be a Jotform excel download. It's fine in csv but then it's a long slog to transfer records from csv to excel. I only used the telephone one as an example, I wish I hadn't now, it happens with all numbers since the Jotform tables update.

Thank you for providing the clarification. I'm able to replicate the issue in a cloned form and a new form as well. Let me escalate this to the backend team so they can fix it. Please note that we can not provide an ETA on this right now but as soon as an update is available we will inform you here.

    Thanks.

Sadly not, it works with a CSV download but not excel, tried clearing cache to see if that helped but no. Any other ideas?

    Hello again,

I have checked your form https://www.jotform.com/202734559651359 and "Number of Tickets" column seems to be a number both for CSV and Excel downloads. Do you experience the issue with the above form or another one? If you have any problem with another column of another form, could you please share the form ID?

    Regards,

    Cemal

    Hi,

For some reason, we didn't get your response on the ticket. But I did receive it in the email. Just adding it here for the record:

"Now happening with all forms but I might have a solution for you. It might be that my Office 365, which is set to auto recognize is, getting it wrong, possibly a US UK style difference, I've t4 tried changing the recognition in Options, this has worked for mail merge but I'm yet to prove it works for Jotform download. I'll keep you posted."

We will look for your findings and thank you for your input.

    Thanks
