How to show the form after submitting but without a page refresh?

Asked by Renuka_vmatechs on September 13, 2013 at 01:00 AM

Hello, I've been a JotForm user for the past 8+ months its been very good using it, but lately I've observed one problem, I had to create a single page template for one of our clients and the forms I'm using there won't refresh once I click the "Submit" button, i.e. it just shows the "Thank you" page and thats it, it won't show the original form until I refresh the page! Is there any way the form can show the thank you message and in a couple of seconds show the original form?

Its an inconvenience since its a single page template, people aren't supposed to refresh the page at all, so the form won't load.

    Thanks for the help!

    Regards

    -Ren

P.S. I haven't added a link as the site's not online yet, also its not this particular form thats doesn't show the original after Thank you message, its all the forms, unless I refresh the page, tha thank you page won't vanish, main form won't show up.

refresh JotForm Thank You message problem template

    Hi Ren,

This is possible. You can use the codes provided below, save it as html file, upload it to your site and set it as your custom thank you URL.

    Here's the code: http://pastiebin.com/5232b548f30a9

Feel free to edit the messages in this code.

    Hope this helps. Regards!

Hello Elton, Thanks for replying! Thanks for the codes I'll try it out and let you know. By the way, is it possible without opening a separate page to refresh the form (just the form) in the current page? I mean, the Thank You image shows and in a few seconds the form goes to its original state?

    Thanks!

    Hi Ren,

We do not have such feature, however like on my previous workaround, you can do it with pop-up thank you message. Here's a demo: https://shots.jotform.com/elton/sample_modal_thankyou_page/modal_thank_you_page.html

You can grab the source code of this page and use it in your form. This is a pretty advance one which requires a little knowledge of javascript. The main script can be found below that page when you inspect its source code.

Let us know if you require further assistance. Regards!

Ah! I see. Thanks Elton, I've used the redirect and it works fine! The pop-up workaround seems better, for that do I have to get the source code from the Jotform or can I integrate the pop up js with an embedded Jotform code?

    Thanks for the help!

    Regards,

    Hello Welvin,

Actually there are 3 forms, but the clients haven't finalised the approach they'd prefer, if its alright could you help with this form now? So later on I can implement it to the other forms. Now I've added the form re-direct method by EltonChris for this form.

Also, is the code implemented at the back end of the form or can I too do it?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Ren,

No, the code will be implemented in your form source code if you are referring to the "pop-up" thank you message. Jotform allows you to grab your form source code and modify it on your own. Here's a guide: How to get your Form Source Code

I have implemented this to your form to create a pop-up thank you message but unfortunately it is not going to work with captcha so I would suggest removing the captcha in your form since captcha validations is processed on the server side, it is not going to work with my custom script.

    Here's a demo: https://shots.jotform.com/elton/user_form/Renuka_vmatechs_form.html

Note that captcha validation isn't added on the thank you pop-up so even if you don't fill anything on the captcha text box and hit submit button, it shows the pop-up thank you message.

You can get the complete source code here: https://shots.jotform.com/elton/user_form.zip

Let us know if you need anything else. Regards!
