Can you attach documents to a form reply?

Asked by Acadian on September 26, 2013 at 10:09 AM

    Good morning!

Can attachements be added to form submissions? For example, a person applying to college and receiving an information packet with .pdf files?

Thanks so much for your time!

    Hello Acadian,

Unfortunately, for security reasons file attachment in notification or auto responder emails are not allowed. You should upload the file in your own server then add the file URL in your form's auto responder email.

After submission when the user receives this e-mail they will have to click on the file URL to download this file.

I hope that answers your question.

    Thank you!

    Good morning!

I have edited the Thank You response to include a document to download.

I sent a test email to see if I would receive the Thank You response and I did not. Am I editing the form incorrectly?

    Here is the form's address:

Hi, I took a look at the issue you've been having trouble with. I found that on the form you've mentioned you have 2 conditional notifications but when I checked them it looks like this was not done correctly as I don't see anything listed when I looked inside the Email Notification Template.

In order for the File Download to work that you are wanting to offer to users you will need to use the tools I've highlighted in " Blue " to add an extra row then you can label it " File Download " and provide a Hosting Link to download it from. Make sure you click Finish then Save.

In this example I've added an extra row to offer the direct link which will automatically display the file to download once clicked on from within the notification. I've highlighted this in green as an example. You can check the live cloned form with this in action here http://form.jotform.us/form/32794173242152. This is how it would be done using outside hosted files.
