Is there a way to use Square to just collect users CC info without having to create a product for sale? I integrated my Square account successfully and created a product, but I made the price $0 and it wouldn't show the fields to enter the credit card data.

This is a re-post of a comment on How to Integrate Form with Square

    Hello There!

You can try with the Payment Authorization in the following article https://www.jotform.com/help/292-how-to-enable-payment-authorization.

With this process, you can charge the customer later with this process but you cant see the credit card information, due to the Payment Gateway TOS and the Jotform Terms of services: https://www.jotform.com/terms/

This is not helpful since I cannot store the credit card information that automatically goes into our Square customers. The auth is only good for 6 days and when I did a test run, it didn't integrate with Square. This is a big need for many of jotform customers using your forms but I can't seem to get anything to work. I would assume that if they stored a credit card on file with Square being our gateway, we should see them as a customer in Square which I cannot. Please help.

    Hello!

Unfortunately with Jotform is not possible to store credit card information since is considered as Pishing by our terms of service and a serious security breach to the users.

My client has given up on the idea of using any internet-based method to collect credit card info. It has simply become too difficult with PCI compliance laws, and Jotform's Square integration will not add a client unless they actually purchase a product, and Square will not sell products with $0 as a dollar amount.

Trying to use the "authorization only" method just to get their data into Square is just too confusing for people when they're filling out a form and see that they have to buy a product for a penny (even though they won't get charged.) This form has to be simple enough for non-technical people to breeze through.

I hear your concern, but I am afraid that is how the authorization feature works currently. The form needs to be submitted with a real credit card for authorization of a specified amount to be captured. You can add a "Paragraph" field in form to display a message to the user that his car is being used for authorization, and he will be charged later.

    Hope this helps.

I agree with EliteInsites...the need to use a secure form (I have a HIPPA account) to collect card information that we store on file for services is critical given that our practice it utilizing telehealth due to COVID. Having all forms online but the one credit card form is very problematic for us since our goal is to streamline and have ALL forms online. Hopefully this is something Jotforms can work on (Square is also unable to problem this and they offer no way for customers to remotely input their own card information to keep on file).
