Hiding specific fields in email notifications while "Hide Empty Fields" is enabled?Asked by tr1n1tyHealth on October 08, 2013 at 10:28 AM
I have my form set up to hide empty fields in notification emails; however, I also have some other fields in my form that I want to always hide in all email notifications...even if its filled out. In my form, I have fields at the end of pages that say, "Take me back" or "Take me to the end of the form."
I want to hide those in my email notifications. Is that possible?
in order to hide unnecessary fields from your email notification body, you should edit your email notification layout, follow the next instructions in order to achieve this.
1 - Click on "Setup & Embed" tab
2 - Click on "Email Alerts" then select the email notification from the list.
3 - Select the field(s) that you need to hide
4 - Click on the "Delete row" icon from the layout editor
This is similar with the form autoresponder.

Ok, I've done that and now it's not hiding the empty fields in the notifications like it was before...
Your empty fields are not hidden any more because you have edited the notification deleting some rows as my colleague suggested. However, notice that if you edit the notification in any way the "Hide Empty Fields in Emails" function will not work even if it's enabled. As ti says in the preferences " This only works using the default email notifier."
I have been trying to find a workaround but I have not had luck. I will be looking for a possible solution and will get back to you if I'm able to find something that helps.
Has there been a fix for this (where you can delete certain rows AND hide empty fields) in the last two years? I'm experiencing the same thing now.
The feature to hide empty fields is only available when the data table is locked. It is a requirement of the functionality to be this way. Unlocking and changing the data in the table does not allow for the feature to function properly. For now and for the foreseeable future, this is likely how this will continue to work.
