I have a membership payment form that accepts payment for one year. When a new person subscribes the integration to mailchimp works nicely and includes the year the membership is good until. However, when an existing member tries to renew their membership I want to update the membership year (and possibly any name changes) in mailchimp....it does not seem to do this right now...is this a bug or a feature not implemented?

Also related to this I have a field in mailchimp that says whether they purchased a "Single" or "Family" membership (different prices). How can I pass the appropriate value to this field from the PayPal Pro tool?

    thx

That is a feature not implemented and I am no sure if it can be feasible to do it, as Mailchimp is a separate integration from Paypal Pro.

You could setup your payment form on recurring charges , and you can also make this to show either the Single or Family subscription as on this form

The form shows a single and family subscription, and should be be passed on to mailchimp by adding a radio button field with 2 options (Single and family) on the Mailchimp list created for this purpose

I created a sandbox account and tested this. In theory it should pass the values. However, it will not resend a new message once the subscriptions gets renewed next year

So I asked the mailchimp support folks about updating members of a list. It is definitely possible...Here is part of their reply....

Any third party integrations are going to be using our API methods in order to interact with MailChimp. I wouldn't be able to say how the integration is using our API, however on the MailChimp side, it is possible to update field information.

The API documentation might provide some clues to how this is done. for example, this method is an example of how subscribers can be updated.

    Hi,

Thanks for providing us with more info about updating records in a mailchimp list using the mailchimp API.

I'm going to forward your request to our feature request about updating  mailchimp records to our feature request   list.  I cannot commit if this feature will be implemented or not but you can be sure that our development team will read this message.

    Thanks
