Text box field not allowing text or number entry

Asked by LegalJeff on October 19, 2013 at 03:51 PM

On my "project development worksheet" all of the text box fields are used for $$$ entry, my form has eight different $$$ entry questions and none allow text or numeric entry. I've tried everything in the properties to get it to work with no success. Can you correct this for me?

Hello, the problem is that you are using the Input Mask with the wrong intention. Input Masks are designed to hide input like an asterisks on a password. Everything you put on the value will turn to $. It is not intended to add or used as a Prefix.

You need to erase that and you may want to consider other alternative by using the Default Value. Users can type on it without any problem. However, this has an disadvantage as users have the ability to delete or replace the $ sign unintentionally.

If you need further help, please do not hesitate to ask for assistance. Thanks

I have a not-dissimilar problem - I have a field that holds an alphanumeric post code and I want to force the alpha data entered to be in UPPERCASE. The field ID is #input_130
