I would like to run a facebook competition which captures the name, email address (for newsletter signup) and a file upload.
We aren't sure on what the uptake will be, so we would like to start with the free model.
However, once we reach 8-9 entries, we will need to upgrade to the paid model - can I do this and still receive entries on the same form/competition?

Apart from the submission and upload storage space limitation, JotForm does not have any limitation or difference between free or paid account. Yes you can start with a free account.
Please be informed that for security reasons, Facebook does not allow you to embed non secure form url. In JotForm free account you can only receive 10 SSL/secure submission and once you reach this submission limit your forms will be disabled. You will have to upgrade to activate your form or wait for the first day of next month when the submission counters are reset.
You can start with a free plan and keep an eye on your submission counts. Once you are reaching close to your submission limit, you can upgrade your account.
Hope this answers your question.
Do get back to us if you have any questions.

Sorry I missed to answer your other question.
Yes after upgrading your account, you can continue to receive the submissions/entries on the same form. You will not have to make any changes in your form.
