    In my notification email, I would like to have uploaded image thumbnails scaled by % and include the file name.

    Asked by pwilliams on May 31, 2011 at 03:03 PM

    I am conducting a photo contest. I would like to have my email notification be a "complete record" of participant's release form and photo submission. I have found documentation explaining how to embed and scale thumbnails by actual diensions, but no mention by %. I would also like to have the file name incuded. Thanks!

    Hi,

    It is currently not possible to use percentage as the uploaded image's dimension displayed in the email alerts. However, if your main concern is to not distort the aspect ratio of the image displayed in your emails, you may specify only either a width or a height for the image.

    To specify only the height, follow this format:

    {IMG:uploadPhoto::100}

    To specify only the width. follow this:

    {IMG:uploadPhoto:100}

    This will keep the images sent to your email in a uniform width or height, retaining the original aspect ratio.

    To include the file name (with the link to the original file), you can just insert the identifier for the image upload field beside the image identifier itself.

    For example,

    {uploadPhoto } {IMG:uploadPhoto:100}

    will result to this email format:

    Hope this post answers your questions. Let me know if there's anything else you need to know. Thank you.

    Hi Neil!

    Thanks for the response below! I have my email notification working and have already received some submissions!

    I am experiencing a few issues I hope you can help me with:

    1. For Photo Upload #3, my email notification shows the link to the image, but not the thumbnail. Please see below for screen shot.

    · Note the photo numbers in the brackets {13-17}…they skip a number on Upload #2, but there is no problem with Upload #2.

    · For Photo Upload #3, note that “Uploade” is spelled wrong, even though it is spelled correctly in my form. I just corrected that…do you think that will resolve the issue?

    · See screen shot of email notification so you can see how photo #3 thumbnail doesn’t come thru…

    2. When I open my email notification, the thumbnails all appear with as a box with the “square/circle/triangle” symbol. I have to allow Outlook to download the images.

    · When I allow, some open right away, others take a few minutes. Would this be related to file size or something else?

    · This isn’t a big deal but it takes time to click on each image a few times and wait for it to appear…

    Thanks in advance for your help!!

    Patty

    Hello Patty,

    I just made a test submit on your form to check if your notification mails are working the way they should. I received this email messsage for that test submit:

    As you can see from the screenshot above, I didn't experience any problems at all with Upload #3. Also, I'd like to note that these are not thumbnails of the uploaded images but rather the images themselves, resized to 200px width, so yes it will take some time to have an image show up in the email body if the size of the file is big.

    As for your problem with images not showing up automatically, you would need to configure your mail client to change that setting. That setting is set as default to prevent users from receiving spam images.

    To configure Outlook 2010 to automatically show images in email messages from jotform, please click here

    If you're still having issues with the email notification, you can upload your screenshots here and then paste the urls in your post.

    Neil,

    It does look like things are working smoothly now! Thanks for the info regarding the thumbnails vs images and link to unblock images in Outlook. I do appreciate your time and effort to help me! I love your product and excellent customer service!

    Have a great weekend!

    Hi :)

    I have done all what you said, but my picture doesn't show up in my emails...

    {IMG:photoDu10Photo::100}{IMG:photoDu10Photo:100}

    I have tried {IMG:uploadPhoto::100}{IMG:uploadPhoto:100}

    But still, no image.

    Thanks for help.
