Stripe: Pass email address on non-subscription based payments to Stripe

Asked by nwadb on October 25, 2013 at 12:58 AM

    Hi,

I was concerned that the email address was not included in the stripe integration as the billing address is. Then, I saw this thread:

    http://www.jotform.com/answers/138849-Stripe-and-Customer-E-Mail

Seems that the CTO of JotForm said that the email address can be passed to stripe by simply adding that field on the form. Then, I see comments from people saying not working. The last comment was from JotForm Support saying that it works only for manual charges? Well, we need to charge customer's CC IMMEDIATELY, which we have set up already that way, and then we already set up in stripe's side that customers will get receipt via email IMMEDIATELY as well.

Two payment forms in question are located at the following URLs. Both are iFrames linked to thoe forms on our JotForm account.

    Your assistance would be appreciated.

    Standing by,

    BK

    Hi BK,

Email address is captured on subscription based only as of the current integration. Since you're payment is not subscription based, capturing email will not work except for the address field. Let me pass this to our developers so they can review if "non-subscription" based payments will be able to capture email on the form.

We will get back to you once we have updates about this. Thanks!

Great! Hopefully, this is something simple. I have noticed that stripe takes great lengths in API toolkit and development tools that it is possible to pass email address for non-subscription payments, I hope.

Looking forward to the update soon.

Since you are using one time charge. Capturing email is impossible.
Stripe did not provide any information about this nor there API's include anything about email for Charge.

Only recurring charges(Subscriptions) was able to capture emails.
And if you create a customer manually from your stripe account, you can provide emails there as well.

But of course that's not what you want. For now JotForm doesn't have this feature, probably we will going to add it in the future. However I cant tell the exact ETA for it.

We will constantly update this thread once we have it working.

    Thanks,
    Kenneth

I got some news for you.

Subscription and non-subscription payments are now going to turn all your users as customers once they made a successful transaction(charge later/imediately) with your form.

With this, it is now possible to attach emails to customer data.

Just to remind you, that you need to include the Email question to be able to capture emails.

Let us know if this solution will solve your Stripe payment problems.

    Thanks,
    Kenneth

Were you able to successfully pass the customers email through to Stripe?  I am trying to do this now but the email address is not showing up with the customer in Stripe.
