Translate the "Please select" text in the dropdown field

[Jot] Unfortunately, the option to translate the "Please select" text is not available. We can provide you with a custom CSS code that will hide this text. Please let us know if that works for you.

[Bruce] Yes, please, if there is CSS to override "Please select...", please let me know.

Actually, I would like English to be just "Select..." (it's too long and gets cut off on mobile).

And I want to change the Japanese to "選択".

Hi Bruce, we do apologize for the inconvenience.

Currently, it is not possible to translate the "please select" default option in the dropdown field.

I have forwarded a feature request to our developers to enable translation for the default option.

    Thank you.

    Thanks Richie_P,

This may have already been lodged, but never hurts to ask again :-)

Two issues actually (not just translation),
    1) Even in the native language, this should be editable as any label.
Yeah sure, "Please select.." is likely most common. But, it isn't always necessary to say please. Some fields, where the selection is just some numbers, the box can/should be very narrow. Especially when you want to arrange several side-by-side.

    2) Yes, "Please select..." is not presented as an option in the translation table in Settings >> Languages.
Along with a bunch of other fields which have also been reported.

All I can do is hope.
I wish the JotForm developers paid better attention to user experience.

    Thanks again!
    Bruce

    LOL
    Blah, blah, blah, blah...

You don't even publish a list of your priorities. So, there is no "resting assured".
    Forgive my frustration.
