Dropbox -- I get the PDF, but not the file

Asked by perls on June 01, 2011 at 06:08 PM

I definitely have lots of free space in my dropbox

The PDFs are coming in just fine, but no the big WAV files which are being submitted. The WAV files do however appear in the submission list and can be downloaded from the jotform website without a problem.

The checkbox next to "Manage Integration" is checked.

    Hello perls,

Thank you for your post and we apologize for your inconvenience.

I would like to try out and see if I can replicate your problem.  May I know how large is the wav file being submitted? so far I'm having no problems with submitting files with a size of a couple of MBs.

    Will wait for your response.

    Thanks,

    Liyam

The files are about 50 MB to 70 MB in size. Today I had three sent to me -- one at 55 MB and one at 1.7 MB came through successfully. One at 88 MB did not come through to the dropbox at all, even the PDF did not make it.

    @perls

Can you check out your dropbox folder for the missing file as referenced in your original post dated June 01, 2011?

As for your new predicament (88MB file), did you receive the particular file and submission entry in your submissions page? It's a little odd considering that if the submission went through, at least the pdf file should be in your dropbox folder immediately. I guess we would have to dig deeper to find out the cause of this issue.

Please do reply to this thread together with the answers to the questions I have raised. We look forward to solving this issue for you. Thank you for your cooperation.

Hi, I'm still working with this form: http://www.jotform.com/form/11514421359

I'm experiencing a lot of problems. Large files generally wouldn't appear in my dropbox. So I turned off the dropbox integration for now.

Still, often large files (150 MB) do not make it through.

And also, though I've made "Upload File" required (you can see it has a red star), in fact I'm getting a good number of submissions with no file attached. I can't really tell if this is because the files are not arriving, or the user is not submitting a file and somehow the validation is not working.

And yes, with the dropbox integration, the PDF would always make it through. The big files would not.

    Hi,

Is the form embedded in a webpage? If yes, can you give us the url of that exact page?

There might be a conflict with the form's code and the other elements in your page that's causing the required validation to not work, thus, visitors are able to submit without attaching files.

Of course, these are just speculations on my part. We would need to inspect the webpage first before we can arrive to a conclusion and come up with a solution for your problem.

    Hi,

If that is the case, then we could attribute this issue with factors that are within the users' control, that is, either browser or connection-related problems.

Required field validation works only if JavaScript is enabled in the users' browser and if the JavaScript file that is responsible for the form's special functions is successfully downloaded and rendered by the browser. Thus, a slow connection may cause the JavaScript file for your form to not load, resulting to a non-working field validation.

The best advice I can give you is to add a message on your form that tells your users to make sure that JavaScript is enabled on their browser.

Hope I was able to shed some light into this issue. Let me know if there's anything you'd like to add.
