For example, I have a question that involves a rating from 0 to 5. If the rating is 0, 1 or 2, I want to require an explanation in a comments field. If the rating is 3, 4 or 5, that would be optional.
Is there a way to set that up?

Hello, while it is not possible to create conditions to set a field to "Required" it is possible for that situation to create 2 separate comments field. 1 for required and 1 that is not required.
You can then create a condition based on a user's choices on the "Rating field" to which "Comment Field" should be shown
Here is a basic form construct as an example:
2 text area fields that represent the comments. 1 of them is not required.
2. Creating Conditions based on the rating:
If user chose 1 or 2 then show the required comment field
If user chose 3,4 or 5 then show the comment field that is not required.
This is the final form. You can see the demo form using this link
Please refer to this user guide to know more about show and hide conditions
