How and why do my forms switch from public to private?

I have my forms set to public. More often than not, when I go to share the form with someone, they can't access it. When they tell me this, I immediately go to the form settings, and sure enough, it's set to be a "private" form even though I haven't changed the setting.

Why does this keep happening and how can I make it stop? I love JotForms and it's been amazing, but I really need to figure this out!

May I know if this is happening with new and old forms? I have an old form in my account and they remained in Public settings.

To further help with our investigation, would you mind providing us the steps you took on how you are sharing your form? Are you sharing by inviting via email or just sharing the Form URL?

Thank you for your response! This is happening with both new forms and old forms that have been updated. I click "Publish" and then "copy link" and send the URL that way.

We are using these for registration forms at a preschool. Do you think it's better to share the link with parents in an email, or to invite them to the form via email? If I invite them, would it limit these happenings, because that email address would have access regardless of the public/private status of the form?

I would recommend doing as you had suggested for now: invite your respondents via email to ensure that they have access to the form regardless of whether it is set to Private or Public.
